My pastel drawing "Storm"

in drawing •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hello dear Steemians,
As I have days off at present after had weekend work, therefore I decided to finish my pastel drawing that I already planned long ago. Initially I thought to do it in oil colors, but due to cold winter days the room that I usually used for oil painting is too cold and the days are too short. To leave painting for few hours means that the colors may get slightly dry then the effect will be not like one like it to be. So my oil paintings now in winter sleep, I will re-start sometimes in April, hopefully will be having more sunny days.

Also, recently I received watercolor paint set, I think my family is teasing me with that as they know that I always struggle and get so angry when my painting is not successful as I want it to be, so they have fun with it. But they still encourage me to give another chance. So this time the set that I have received called “Chinese watercolor, tempera”. If everything goes well, I will post the result of my watercolor battle.

But now back to my drawing, this time I have chosen sea scene, I heard that here where we live fishery was very popular in the past and even there were some boats with sails, so this is a simple everyday of those fishermen who this time returned in time, it looks like the storm is coming so they need to bring their sails and boats in safe place.

My drawing on Canson Mi-Teintes Touch paper, I like it but as it is a sanded paper after blending my fingers lose their superficial layer, it is a little bit painful, but luckily I have only one sheet left of this sort of paper. One more time to suffer :)

My drawing I called : “Storm”:

At the end I would like to draw your attention to one of the artists whose work I recently noticed and I must say they are amazing, as I am a fan of serie "Alien" the drawings remind me that. So here is Kev, @kevmcc , and we have two things in common, we are both artist and from Scotland, here is the link to his recent work:

Thanks for the mention.

My pleasure, Kev, your works deserve it!

Vary beautiful illustration.

Thank you @theia, as always nice to hear from you!

Thank you friend.

Your gradients and colors are awesome! Did you work from reference for this drawing?

I collected the different parts from different drawings, especially sky and clouds, this is quite difficult part to make them fit into the whole picture, needs a bit of harmony with color of water too

You do some pretty good work, should check out some of your fam... @marty-arts and @prostosun. I know they are artists too. I know there are a few more but those are the first two that popped in my head :P

I know both of them from previous contests, I feel myself so old, although I am only 5 Steemit months old :)

Te seguiré y si deseas me sigues y compartiremos obras

I never work with pastel dyes. I do not succeed
you have drawn extraordinary. I love this view.
excellent technical and extraordinary colors. you are very successful. congratulations

Thank you, actually pastel is easy and quick then oil or acrylic colors, if you try couple of times, you would get the clue how to do it

Okay, I'm in awe! You do such amazing work. Thank you for sharing your art with us. I can hear the ocean and smell the salt air. The way the clouds open up is really interesting as well. :)

Thanks for your comment and I am glad you shared the impressions that you have from viewing my drawing

God, I love it. Beautiful work. Congratulations!

Thank you!

Good job. I like seeing the work in progress.
Does that paper give the image a texture that's still visible in the finished work?

Thank you Andrew, yes, it does not give a texture like oil or acrylic colors, but due different layers, it gives a visual effect of it and the good thing about those papers it is quite robust

This is outstanding, beautiful, stunning, I can't say a word, reminds me to these old paintings from the history. That technique for draw the sky and clouds, I'm in love. Thanks for sharing this amazing artwork process.

Great turbulence and aggressive energy in your painting. I love the stormy waves ! And the violently rocking boats are awesome, @stef1
