Eros Thanatos II

in drawing •  7 years ago  (edited)

This is the largest drawing I had done so far. Usually, most of my work is either A4 or A3 or similar sizes. This piece, especially made for the artist colony PIGMALION I participated in Serbia at the Eco Village - Rajski Konaci in Leušići in June 2017.

Steem ON!

Saw this one, when Aleksandra showed me some info on the artist colony PIGMALION. Wow, very impressive. Good composition and incredible detail. Like the skulls the best :-)

Thanks Reinhard - it was quite an intensive work, for once, with a deadline looming, I couldn't goof off but had to be in the studio daily to get it done on time. I always have a hard time letting new work go - so I had it scanned by Digital Laut in Vienna, who did an incredible job for a reasonable price. But Snezana took me to a photographer friend of hers in Novi Sad (who has an incredible studio in the Petrovaradin Fortress); he also reproduced it very good. At least I have a print of it, lol.
The sculls I had drawn earlier, sort of almost like a series, it originated with: EROS THANATOS

hahaha... yes, I have heard from several people, that its a real challenge to get your painting done on time at the colony. I will come well prepared ;-)

Having good photos of ones work is really important. Unfortunately I became of that rather late and have very little documentation of my earlier works.

same here: there are hundreds of paintings from the seventies where I don't have a record at all. And those that I do, only scans from analog photos that are not very suitable for poster printing. Some of my most popular images actually come from that time.
Coming well prepared: yes, that I was alerted to by Snezana. So there, I could relax - I did some drawing there also, and the Pigmalion guest book entry you likely saw in one of my posts. That book was started just new, with this colony, so our group were the first ones to contribute to it.
