DRAWING CHALLENGE #6 🎨 - "LOOKING BACK TO MY SON AT AGE THREE" ORIGINAL CONTENT

"Looking Back to My Son at Age Three"

This is my entry to Drawing Challenge #6 hosted by the talented @helene with the theme "Portrait Of A Child" drawn only with pencil.

Step by step photos of my drawing process are included.

My "little boy" turned 18 years old yesterday. As I was looking through photos and reminiscing about his younger days, I came across this image of him concentrating on swinging at a baseball while he practiced in the backyard. He was wearing a Spiderman costume because naturally, Spiderman was his hero!

In honor of his childhood ending, I thought I would draw his portrait for him.

The only items I used were a pencil, Magic Rub eraser and sheet of paper.

Step 1
First I drew a basic outline of his head, adding his eyes, eyebrows, nose, mouth and shoulders.

Step 2
Shaded in his hair and added more detail to his facial features and ear.

Step 3
Concentrated on his eyes.

Step 4
Added more detail to the nose and lips.

Step 5
Drew more hair, added more to the nose and shaded areas of the face.

Step 6
Drew his Spiderman costume, added final touches to his eyes and face, and signed completed portrait with my Steemit username.

Step 7
Created a side by side image showing my portrait and the phot used to draw using Pic Collage. Voila!

Portraits have always been difficult for me to draw. Looking at the finished portrait, I think I drew my son to look a little older than the original photo, perhaps subliminally, and I also "combed" his hair because hey, that's what moms do!❤
