you should be a little more present in the real world, you can’t just walk into toilets dude and keep streaming to thousands of people! (especially in cali, this could spiral outta control easily) anyway, presence in the real world or not — did the camera man get told to always have me in frame, always be streaming or did the camera guy not think about what he was doing and just went and ice posidon’d his ass anyway?
Either way, dr’s pinned tweet still shows his schedule but he has no video channel to stream too as of today which means his main revenue stream (well apart from the brand deals and such which I guess are hard convos yesterday and today) is kinda on hold — this is what happens when you go all in on a platform which provides you with an income/revenue stream and you forget to realise the real world ramifications of not keeping on top of the things that will get you BANNED from a platform.
Obviously, major major mistake to continue streaming while doc was in the toilet and it’s probably gonna have profound impact on his channel which as of this morning is still obviously down — no tweets, no updates but I’m guessing now that he’s signed with an agency they have gone into total comms lockdown mode until they have covered all the bases, I hope this get’s resolved quickly, major stupid move on docs part (guess this is why he doesn’t do IRL streams — this was his first/last?)
Which opens up the idea of the ‘character’ of the ‘dr’ in everyday life, he’s in this Keith ledger style character focus up to eight hours a day and then goes out into the wild world to see his fans and all this adoration, does he lose himself in himself and forget the outside world? Does he truly believe the world around him adorns only him — especially when you put a streaming camera on the situation, connecting the analog with the digital.
Whatever way you look at it, he fucked up. The camera man fucked up.
decentralise and diversify
Obviously we are seeing more and more people turning from platforms like youtube and twitch to decentralised platforms which allow free speech (to a certain degree) and still allow to make an income in a different way from a rewards pool (kinda needs people to buy buying in and making businesses still for this feel good party to operate!) like steem — if the dr had started to decentralise last time he left of his own accord (the cheating) then he might have a channel today to actually stream too.
Maybe now is the time anyway to make the move, he’s got options obviously, I’m sure mixer would love to have him (centralised but with money/perks) and I’m absolutely certain that dlive have probably reached out what with having pew pew dye dye on their ‘so called books’ — he’s got options and I’m sure once he’s worked out the ‘legal’ real world side through his management agency he will be looking at his options.
Obviously platforms like twitch and youtube have first mover advantage over the providing of streaming services but I remember when it was just Justin streaming his life trying to build out the startup and some of that stuff was touch and go in the early years when it was only thousands watching not the 100’s of thousands we have today with an itchy report trigger finger.

I’ve already got the dr an account and he would not be starting at level 25, I wrote a few articles and I had every intention of creating more videos and putting them on youtube at the time (for a bit of traffic, to learn new edit skills, to make a little side scratch funds) but I ended up calling time on that idea when the whole cheating/video takedown drama was discussed back over a year ago, I’m glad things had changed since then — I just hope he can make it back from this episode too.
what would an onboarding pack look like?
Which got me thinking about how could we bring someone like the doc to the decentralised lands of STEEM and dapps like vimm.tv — a tweet is never enough these days when you have a million followers, you need a team effort to roll up and in a number of hours in multiple ways start the ball rolling of reaching out to these new wave of brand advocates and audience builders, they have certain needs and requirement just like a stage hand takes care of in the theatre — and we need to start building that out.
I realised for me that was me making a little @dtube video today about this whole thing in the hope that it might get back to the dr so he had ‘options’ when it comes to being able to put out a live stream and content that would not get taken down or effect his income streams and reputation — I’m sure he’s gonna suffer from his ban on twitch and it was a MOVE to start the youtube channel as that’s a bit of residual income BUT still limits what he can say there in fear of demonetisation too.
maybe a custom frontend is the move!
With a character like the dr maybe the move is to build his own tribe out on the steem blockchain using a custom condenser frontend, his own token, his own frontend with his videos, tweets and media from other blockchains that support immutability as well, maybe that’s the new wave of websites of the future, straight to the entertainment, no middlemen, zero hour contracts between brands and audience.
Whatever happens, it’s certainly gonna kick off real quick with live streamers in the coming years as security, reputation and financial security needs to be a very controlled, distributed and disaster managed environment safe enough for people who entertain to work in with real time resolution.
