While taking a drive to the IMG_1644.JPG
with the intention of taking some pictures of this historic structure, and doing a post on this refrigation plant in the near future, another photo opportunity unfolded.

I spun the car around and parked on the roadside.
The following pictures are what caught my eye.

My subject got more interesting as I focused the camera a little bit closer with each ensuing exposure.

IMG_1632.JPG

This very interesting fellow was looking right into the camera.

IMG_1638.JPG

Zoomed in even further, the camera's eye revealed Dreadlocks beyond those of Get Up, Stand Up

This sheepish fellow may even have Bob Marley beat.

Looked into removal of sheep's wool, and learned that this is a common sight.

The type of sheep in these pictures can have their wool removed by peeling it off.

The sheep farmer may take the wool off in stages as the wool is released.

From the pictures you can see that some of the sheep have no wool remaining. The wool on these guys must have came off in one peeling.

The sheep feels no pain in this process called ROOING.

I have a friend who used to sheer these as a way to make money. I didn't think too much about it til I thought of the prospect of wrestling 500 pound animals and getting a hoof in the mouth if they twitched and the razor bit.

Haha sir bigsweed! wow that's some narly lookin wool hanging off those guys! Very interesting pictures. Did you go on to get good photos of the old refrigeration plant or whatever it was? oh, I just saw that's your next post!

The process of just peeling the wool off of the sheep was new to me. Rooing must be a lot easier than shaving the wool off!

haha! yes sir bigsweed that loose wool looks like crap but it would sure be an easy way to get the wool, that was a surprise to me too. Are you doing a foodfightfriday post today?
