Dreamily working your way into new information by creating your own, not-thought-out collages is a journey into self, a way to pass your own "manager parts," and rigid gatekeepers.
The process is thus, let yourself get into a meditative and comfortable state, perhaps play some contemplative music in the background, make a cup of tea, get our your scissors and some images. Let yourself be drawn to particular pictures, just gather the ones that speak to you and not worrying too much about how the images will tie together. Give yourself some time for this kind of process!
Once all is gathered, you can begin to place, overlap, further cut and fashion the images into a waking dream.
There are different ways in which people work with the images after they're completed and perhaps, like me, you'll use what works from different sources including Soul Collage, I am the one who questions, and/or stepping into a picture, where you use the image as a shamanic portal into a journey as Robert Moss suggests?
One can also take the Bill Plotkin Animas approach and simply live with the image in a place where you can allow it to take hold of your psyche, to work you in the way that it is meant to without being too eager to assign meaning or think you know already what the dream is offering you. Remember, the dreams are coming in order to inform us of wisdom we're not yet currently consciously aware of. Let the image speak its truth.
Also, it is quite helpful, if you're daring to allow others to view your creation and be open to their statements of, if it were my dream this is my experience, remembering we're all human with similar experiences and wisdom to share, but that ultimately, only you (because the image is coming from you) will know the true meaning. So, these responses will either resonate and open more for you, or they won't be confirmed and either way, you'll get closer to the truth.
The top image is one I created yesterday and have yet to journey into and at this point am letting the image work into me. I do have solid idea's about what is going on here, but also know that I will be surprised with more when I decide to spend the time and actually work with my image and this weekend plan to do so.
This image is a gathering of pictures that I haven't yet glued together and they're sitting on my office chair waiting for me to place them in a dream. Perhaps, I'll get to them, but if too much time goes on they will become parts of a collection of images for later. I guess one could relate them to the wispy fragments that start to rise at night, but are not yet placed themselves in a vivid scene.
So, for any who'd like to play along, what do you see if these were your dreams?
Pretty interesting work! If it were my dream? I would feel caught between work and family time.
