Dreams being remembered and interesting more often is becoming a pleasant surprise. The one I had last night was interesting and I think has some different possibilities in it. There might be some truth about the future hidden in it.
It starts with me talking to my wife in the dream as we stand near our fancy Winnebago near a cliff and a nice scenic environment. We seem to be happy. We are talking about the fact that I just got promoted to her department. (None of this work environment, job etc is remotely real in real life, it is something created by the dream)
The scene is interesting and has some super saturated color look to the grass and the fact we are camped by a cliff and what is at the bottom of that cliff is very dream like such, that it never really becomes an issue. Looking back the scenery was pretty extreme and different. It was kind of as if our little section of land was a Discworld type thing with the land tilted just slightly as an angle.
A little while later we are at the new job where she is telling me my duties. We walk around and there are all kinds of shapes and objects sitting on various shelves. It is like a fancy object, with computers, gadgets, and nick knacks all over the place. A coworker walks in and they start tossing some of the shapes back and forth at each other and sometimes trying to tag each other while laughing. This is part of the job.
They ask me to join in and I grab something that looks like a ball with a bunch of Nerf sponge like rectangular arms poking off in all directions and I toss it at the new coworker. My wife babbles something intelligent at me as is typical with orientation to new positions. I of course do not recall any of the actual discussion, I simply recall what was being discussed. That is the part that made this dream truly interesting.
Essentially what the job boiled down to is the fact that AI and computers handled most of the tasks in the world at this time. Occasionally weird circumstances would come up where our biological brains might approach things different from the AI. They would then have us manipulate many different shapes and interact with things while they monitored our brain and used that information to assist them in solving problems from directions their normal programming would not consider. We were essentially the department of thinking outside of the box.
The rest of the time was kind of like a permanent vacation traveling around and living where we wanted to live. Much of this was implied and the only other human besides my wife I saw in the dream was the coworker. I did not see vast technology, or destruction, but I also did not notice lot's of life. This is not unusual though as I was cruising around in the city lost in another dream I recently wrote about and it seemed normal in that dream that I didn't see other cars and people while I was driving around city neighborhoods. I guess I shouldn't read too much into the fact I didn't see people. The implied feeling is that PEOPLE were around, the dream simply did not feel they were important enough to show them to me.
Steem On!
Well, I can give you some insight about the abandoned feeling.
All of the humans basically have a back to the land movement. Aided by something like teleportation*. They don't need to be in cities to interact (to go downtown to see a picture show) and they don't need to be in cities to manufacture stuff anymore.
So, they moved out to the country and formed small communities everywhere. Growing your own food is really big/important.
Being in a city and having a job is not important.
The thing that most people never get about AI, is that it can't think outside the box. Literally. It is built inside a box, and that is all the world it will ever know, unless a human comes along and opens its box.
Don't ask me how we get there; I don't know. But this future is pretty much set in stone now. We have a couple generations of actually fighting evil. We have several iterations of money to go through, but in the end we will basically have one money/currency for the entire Americas. And it will be something that Bitcoin can only dream of being.
* teleportation, as I used it is not like Star Trek or any other science fiction, except maybe Star Gate. It has to do with compressing time in one dimension compresses space in another, and so an object can have its location effected.

I am pretty well versed in AI. It has been a passion of mine since I first learned of it in the early 80s as a young programmer. :) I am not one that fears it.
Also thinking OUTSIDE OF THE BOX is subjective. We kind of all build our own boxes.
Some random and procedural elements can make the outside of the box for a computer fast and way faster than us. Yet those of use that have studied random and procedural tend to know they are not typically truly random. So you could say perhaps there is a BOX there.
I don't believe my dream where we were thinking outside of the box for them is real, but it definitely was an interesting dream. I had fun with it and I was very amused by where my mind took me.
It felt more like I was watching an episode of Black Ice. My last two dreams have felt like that. It could have something to do with my wife and I watching all of those over the past few weeks. :)
I've messed with Turing Machines a lot, and in games I really like to design emergent systems. So yes this TOO is a passion of mine. I like to think, I like to think about thinking, and I've long liked to think about making my computer think.

What I mean is more literal. Like, take our current computers. Run as long as they like, with as complex of algorithms as you can imagine, and no computer will ever think of a 2.
Solve the best order of slicing the bread and meat and lettuce, which order to mayonnaise the bread and stack the filling, and a computer will astonish us in what order it does thing in to make a sandwhich efficiently.
If you ever look into great inventors, they all describe a moment of clarity where they saw a thing that didn't exist. The greeks called these muses. And, they are literally outside the box events. There is no amount of churning inside the box that would ever get us some of the things we have now.

As far as we know. :) I try not to say never, or always. No way for me to prove such things.

This is something I know, but it is also something I cannot prove.
You see, my life has been one of getting outside my boxes... only to find myself in a bigger box. Analysing my thinking before and after, I have realized that there is no amount of thinking that would get one outside the box. The "epiphany" as you have said, came from outside.
Also, the universe is a box. There are thoughts that we cannot think. But, I cannot describe them, I cannot quantify them, I cannot tell anyone else of them. There is no proof that I could ever give. Because, to do so, I would have to change the universe to include that thing/thought. And, once I did that, the universe would become bigger... and the proof would poof.

And I believe the term you are describing is "epiphany". Would this be accurate? I have experienced such moments myself.

Speaking on AIs, why haven't we built a virus scanner AI? All we use is pattern matching to search for viruses. And that only catches viruses that have been found by humans previously. It is very easy for a skilled human to notice a virus, why not an AI?
Besides the fact that Mircosloth and Boogle are the number one creators of viruses.

What a nice post, and nice conversation you two are having here!
It's useful to think about the inmune system. The body needs the right lymphocyte to be around when an antigen is attacking. Just like with computer viruses, there is an unlimited number of possible ones, so how do our bodies handle the issue? There seems to be an interplay between random and non-random lymphocyte production. So if there is no detected threat production will be mostly random, but when there is a threat many copies of the appropiate lymphocyte are made. Also, it isn't well understood how, but despite this randomness healthy bodies don't suffer from "false positives" (imagine a spread of malicious white cells!). Would you grant the inmune system the status of "intelligent" given that it manages to fight against the best virus creator (evolution)?
Genetic algorithms are one way in which these insights are being used in programs but they do create a "box" within which the program's creativity is confined. Nevertheless, how would we know if our creativity has or doesn't an analogous box?

They kind of do attempt to do that with heuristics... the problem becomes the FALSE positives. We could teach a machine to identify them, but what about false positives?

By thinking outside the box! :-p
There are two types of viruses, internal acting and external acting.
Internal ones are trying to muck up the system. These should be fairly easy to identify if we actually had real sandboxing operating systems. It would be nice if an AI identified them, suspended them, and then told the user about it.
The external ones: How do you tell the difference between pockymon go and a virus telling the world all your information. Well, this is most easily done with actually understanding the internet. Like, this program is wanting to go out to shady bars in the slum parts of town... suspicious.
Lots of work to be done in this field. But it probably won't take off until microsloth is forced to clean up their act. When the real pushback to big brother happens.

the external one is more known as a Worm I would think. Still get's lumped in with viruses when talking of detection though.

You could have viewed our brains as generating their random number seed and that was our purpose. :P

Dreams are cool! Thanks for sharing.
I’ve been dreaming a lot recently. Last night I dreamed that mother Mary came to me and gave me a giant flying saucer shaped chalky suppository with the words “ACME” embossed on it in angular jagged lettering made by some big pharmaceutical company. It was supposed to supplement me with the needed nutrition that I was missing from not getting breast milk. (I was a bottle feed baby)
I thought, “I’m supposed to put this where? I better moisten this up a bit.” So I put it in my mouth and it started to dissolve. I felt warm and cuddly with the flow of divine love. I don’t need any supplement for this I thought, it is always available.
Hopefully my dream isn’t too weird for anyone – I enjoyed it. ;)

Dreams do some of the craziest of stuff.
I always enjoyed them (Even nightmares) once I started realizing they had the best special effects. It was after I made that conscious decision that I stopped having them as much.
Nightmares don't seem to want to stick around when you get a kick out of them. ;)

I know how that is. I've found it true too that nightmares disappear when you find that out about them.

Computors will never be able to write steemit posts so I guess we will all be full time steemers when AI takes all the jobs
