Dream analysis: One of the most vivid dreams I have ever had

in dreams •  7 months ago

This one started out in a way that I don't really remember where I was or why I was there but it was a metropolis sort of area. It is strange but had a science fiction twist to it as well as something like a video game going on as well.

I was hanging out with a Joe Rogan with hair and he was my roommate or something. Near our shared condo there was a bar across the street and we went to go hang out over there and everyone gravitated towards him but no one really cared that I was there. I guess that would happen if you were really hanging out with Joe Rogan. Joe was cool though, and kind of forced everyone to meet me as well if they wanted to talk to him. I'd like to think that this is the way I would be if I was a celebrity and had a bunch of hanger-ons that were just going to ignore my real friends and just try to get to me because I am a celebrity. Joe had all these people that he introduced me to but there was this one girl that he introduced to me that took a real liking to me. That part of the dream made me feel good because she was like a model or something.

can you believe that is Joe Rogan?

Joe and I hung out at that bar for a while and then we got bored and went back to our building. Turns out there is a bar on the same floor as our condo and it was very similar to the other one across the street and was basically exactly the same thing as the one across the street. I guess my brain could only store but so many locations in the cache because yeah, it was the same bar but just in my hallway instead of across the street. There was a band playing in the bar and just like happens in a lot of my dream I ended up playing with the band using an instrument that I don't know how to play. I was on some sort of bongo / percussion area sort of thing and was feeling very self-conscious about the fact that I was screwing up the songs.

We eventually left that place and the model girl decided to come with me. At this point you might be thinking that this is when the dream turns X-rated but we never got to get to that point because when we got back to my bedroom I looked out the window and saw that one of the skyscrapers in the distance was on fire, it was a towering inferno and a few seconds later it collapsed to the ground. Then I noticed all the other skyscrapers in succession getting closer to our building had a quick flash of light on the top of it followed by them collapsing to the ground as well. This line of buildings falling straight to the ground was getting closer and closer to us. I quickly grabbed Nadi (my dog) and the girl and ran towards the stairs to get us out of the building before our collapsed around us.

It didn't occur to me until just now but I made absolutely zero effort to try to get my friend Joe Rogan out of the building and I never saw him again in the dream. That isn't as relevant as you think because as we were out in the outside hallway running towards the stairs - with me being MUCH more concerned about Nadi than I was about the girl - a very bright flash of light happened and I heard the beginning of an explosion and then everything went blank. A few moments later I was standing in a room with everyone else in my building (but not Joe Rogan... I guess he went back to the other bar?) and nobody was harmed. Many people were standing in their pajamas or whatever they were wearing when the flash happened but everyone was fine. Not so much as a scrape or a drop of blood on anyone. Everyone including me did seem a bit groggy though.

It took me a while to process this but it was eventually pointed out to us that a friendly foreign alien species had decided that humans could no longer inhabit the Earth and they were going to transport all of us somewhere else while they fixed the damage we had done to the planet. They explained as they were handing out our jumpsuits that we would be safely transported to another area while they fixed the planet. Then we were transported to a place that seemed a lot like Earth but clearly was not Earth.

At this new area, we were given a lot of things to do and one of them was to try to make it through this series of challenges that were a lot like a puzzle video game. Room after room would have different challenges and if you made it through enough of them, you got these tokens that we could take back to another "progress board" of sorts and it would reveal more and more maps for us to play on. This seemed a lot like many mobile games or even console games where you get rewards and then open up new areas to compete in.

In one particular section there were stairs leading in a bunch of directions and we all had these metal knives with us. They were not weapons, but more like the knives that you use to spread butter on bread. When we as a group walked past a certain area some sort of electromagnet across the room would force the knives out of some people's hands and it would fly across the room sticking to the wall.

I for some reason was considerably stronger than the others there so I took the knives from other people and walked past the electromagnets while gripping the knives and made it past. When I got past the magnets I had to slot the knives into some slots on the wall and it would open the door to the next room. This continues for many more rooms with some variation of the same puzzle and at the end, the idea was to get through with as many knives as possible and then slot them into another "leaderboard" of sorts in order to open more and more competition room.

It was actually a lot of fun and I give my brain kudos for coming up with something coherent and fun.

After the gaming time we were ushered to a wonderful buffet breakfast of sorts

Then things got a little bit weird. Remember the girl that I met in the club with Joe Rogan that took a liking to me? Well she was just gone now even though we had traveled to this distant planet together. Also, our surroundings got downgraded and now we were in a neighborhood of sorts that was pretty run down except for a few of the buildings. For some reason, I had a car and now my real-life ex-girlfriend was tagging along with me. In real life I don't often think about this girl because we parted ways about 6 years ago. But I took her in my car to the building that I was staying in, and not in any sort of romantic way. I was just looking out for her. When we got there I decided to take a pool float of sorts out to the pool and our pool apparently was one of the only functioning ones in the neighborhood.

Had the aliens lied to us? Were they losing their magical powers to keep everything functioning?

the float was something like this and that dog looks similar to Nadi!

So I'm floating around in the pool when I look over to the other side and see that the model girl that Joe introduced me to is at the same pool with 2 other dudes. So this was a less-than-pleasant part of the dream because she had seemed to really like me before. I didn't make my presence known and just kind of snuck out of there back to the inside where my real-life ex-girlfriend was hanging out. There were some light snacks put out in this room as well so I went up to load up a tray collecting a few bits and bobs. When I returned to the table the model girl was at the table and was now pissed off at me for "going back to my ex." This was a very frustrating part of the dream because I didn't want the ex and was being accused of something that she, in fact, was guilty of. She abandoned me, not the other way around.

The games continued and eventually we all started to get kind of bored of them but I felt as though this was a trial that the aliens had put us into to see who was worthy to be added back to the human population on Earth, so I trudged on with a few helpers, and eventually on my own when everyone else had given up. At this point both the model girl and the real-life ex-girlfriend were no longer part of the picture but guess who was still sticking with me?

That's right! My trusty floof-friend wasn't going anywhere and stuck with me all the while.

This is when the dream ended and I woke up in my bed in Vietnam with one of my arms completely numb from having slept on it funny. My arm still kind of hurts now from sleeping in an awkward position.

This was one of the more vivid dreams I have had in a while so I woke up and went straight to the keyboard before it slipped out my memories.

Let's see what the "experts" make of this dream

As far as the alien invasion is concerned they had this to say

Maybe you feel stuck in your current career, routine, relationship, or how you view yourself. The point is, there’s an undercurrent of dissatisfaction which is causing this dream.

I had to roll my eyes at this explanation because they seem to always try to interpret your dreams as something really vague and also bad. I feel as though psychologists feel obligated to find problems with everything otherwise they wouldn't have jobs.

As far as helping the ex-girlfriend is concerned this is what one doctor had to say

the relationship could have made you a stronger and more confident person, and now this is your subconscious mind urging you to utilize those skills.

Maybe. I wouldn't say that this is the case but I guess so. I will accept this one only because it presents a strength rather than a weakness :P

This is in danger of being too long so I am going to cut it off here. That was a fun dream that I really enjoyed and my only regret is that I turned my back on Joe Rogan who was only trying to help me as much as he could.
