There can't be many parks in the whole of the world that compete with the beauty of this one. My husband's family hosts its reunion here every year, and while I'm generally one to believe you should change things up, I have to say in this instance I get it.
Once again Howie and I set off on his bike to do some sight-seeing, choosing to ride alongside Seneca Lake on Route 414 to Watkins Glen.
I find it interesting that they have a number of playground 'pieces' (Items? equipment? I still don't know the word for them) spread around, rather than all lumped together in one spot.
It does afford a nice view from each place.
My nemesis. Namely because my cousin used to have great fun jumping off when I was up in the air, causing me to come down hard and bruise...a tender place.
(Does anyone else remember this being referred to as a Cherry Bomb? As a child I fortunately had no idea what that meant)
If it weren't for a horrible case of helmet hair, I might have let Howie take a picture of me on these.
Definitely the one disadvantage to 'traveling by bike' is the inability to be presentable ;)
It seems strange that they have not replaced this beaten up sign, I wonder if there's a story behind that? Surely someone could paint Daffy on a different board with these words.
My favorite place on the playground from childhood straight to now. I still have a vague memory of learning to pump my legs. I have very strong memories of learning to jump from the highest point and land with grace (well, on my feet and not my face)
This was probably my second favorite thing at a playground as a kid...when there were lots of us to get it really going anyway :)
Not a huge fan of the new style of playground pieces, definitely give me the metal slides and the rubber swings any day.
The salt mines...funny that the sky is grayer above them.
Excuse me, do either of you know Jonathan Livingston by chance?
(I took their lack of response to be "We don't acknowledge him as one of us.")
I was going to climb up on the watchtower, but just as we got over there a park security was coming through...another day ;)
That concludes part one of the exploration of this beautiful, touristy town. Stay tuned for part two- The Marina- and thank you for viewing!
Generously created for me by @son-of-satire
Wait a minute, is this the inspiration of The Playground Series?? You know that I have a fondness for that story because it's where we first got to actively interact, outside of @ezzy's masterpiece of course. It looks like such a clean site, so clean that I might puncture my lungs because it's so use to breathing in not-so-clean air haha!
You know, this shot is my favorite, and as I was admiring the view...
lo and behold! PEOPLE!!! Finally! Brave souls that don't scatter about when you're documenting Dreemit's World hahaa!

I can't say that this is the inspiration, no, otherwise I definitely would have included it ;) That playground isn't near water, it's near a field and some woods. If I ever get there, I will do a post :)
Hahaha, right? They were the only ones, and look how far away they are...I'm pretty sure they sped off when they saw me getting closer.

If only they knew that they would be internet famous they might've stayed. Or, they might've ran faster! haha

Thank you, it definitely is @tonyr :) Actually Watkins Glen is home to a gorge that is incredible, and I will be doing a post on that at some point as well :)

She is indeed lovely and I have already had the pleasure of speaking with her briefly when commenting on an article she wrote a few weeks ago on the same subject. Thanks for the recommendation though! You are very thoughtful! :)
I'm just about to switch off so have fun and look froward to speaking to you again soon @dreemit!!

What a lovely park!
This reminds me of some of the lakefront parks in New Hampshire, only larger than the ones I have in mind.
I too have excellent memories of flying off of a swing, floating through the air in a euphoric weightless state, imagining being an astronaut!
You had me smiling with your conversation about Jonathan Livingston... :D
I am very glad to have "tripped over you" today, to supply a little love with a few upvotes, and to notice that you've gained such excellent traction here on Steemit!
😄😇😄

Hi!! It's the rivers in New Hampshire that are spectacular, there and in Vermont, in fact I'm hoping to visit my cousins in VT this summer, the awesome pictures I can take there, sigh, lol.
Ah, you know Jonathan then? Haha, I thought it would be fun to mention him, definitely an all time favorite children's book, and actually right up there on my adult list too :)
I'm glad you tripped on me as well, I'll have to do a little tripping, or skipping, over to your place soon!

A fond memory is when Richard Bach used his JLS-engendered wealth to purchase a BD-5 aircraft, and have it assembled for him with a jet engine installed...
He wrote a beautiful article about it for Flying Magazine.
Owning and flying the BD-5 was one of my youthful dreams that I had to abandon...
There are stories in there somewhere...
Thank you for the inspiration, friend! :D

Many moons ago my husband and I stumbled on "Illusions" at a used book store. It's one of the books that were crucial on my journey, and I read everything he wrote after that.
I'm glad the reminder is bringing up potential material for you my friend, definitely glad to inspire! When you write about it, link it in my comments so I don't miss it! :)

I've never been to Watkins Glen but my husband used to go up there as a youngster with his family for the Grand Prix.
