Seventy percent of the human body consists of fluid, therefore we must maintain the intake of drinking for organs to function optimally. Drinking water is an important thing to do to meet those needs. The recommended amount is eight glasses a day. The amount is of course also adjusted to our daily activities.
Although important, does not mean that the more drinking then our bodies will be well hydrated.
Apparently there are times when we should stop drinking water;
1. When the Urine Is Clear
The color of urine is one indicator that can be used to determine the condition of fluids in the body. The clear colored urine signals the body has got enough fluids, while the urine is dark yellow means the body needs more fluids.
When the body has got enough fluids, then we do not need to consume more water. Excessive water consumption can make the levels of sodium in the body too low and cause a health disorder called hyponatremia.
2. After a fairly intense Physical Exercise
When exercising, the body will release a lot of fluid and electrolytes through sweat. Especially if we do physical exercise in a long time like running marathon, mountain climbing, or other heavy exercise. The body has the potential to lose a lot of electrolytes.
When consuming excessive water under these conditions, will trigger the occurrence of acute hyponatremia. This condition makes a person suddenly become convulsions and consciousness decreases due to brain cell swelling. Therefore, the recommended drink to be consumed after strenuous exercise is a drink that contains many electrolytes.
3. Drinking Water At Large Dining
One way for us to eat more calories when eating is to drink water first some time before a big meal. However, if the opposite we do is drinking while eating or after a big meal, it will make the stomach feels bloated and uncomfortable.
So, we should drink enough water or pause for a while if you want to drink water after a big meal.
