Lots of Driverless Car headlines today, see below, but what most people don't realize is that all the indoctrinating/propaganda hype they're being bombarded with about benefits to cars in attempts to rally The Public to the cause, is actually little to do with cars at all. The industry's aim is to generate an atmosphere where The Public fully accepts driverless vehicles, so it can easily add Driverless 18 wheeler trucks, and double/triple length truck as being legal. This is where the big savings are, getting rid of truck drivers and their salaries.
They don't care about The Public's voice. The trucking leadership just want more profit/bonuses regardless of the consequences.
