Yesterday turned out to be a really nice day. The kind of day after about a week of chilly weather that lets you know that summer is right around the corner.
Because of this whole house arrest situation, I haven't been able to get out much to fly my drone. Since the only way we're allowed to get out of the house is to go shopping or get exercise, I decided on the latter.
I did a quick checkup on my bike, threw my drone in the backpack, and headed a few kilometers down the trail for a flight.
The back of my property is attached to The Great Trail which has seen some use from us nearly daily for the last few weeks. Normally, we head South with the dogs to avoid having to cross the old highway. This way, I don't even have to take a leash with me as there is nothing around for quite a while.
Yesterday, since I was by myself on my bike, I decided to head North and see what's up that way. It's been about 10 months since we moved into this house and I hadn't been up that way yet. Going up that way involves crossing a few streets and runs along some subdivision areas and other businesses so it's not the best for walking the dogs up that way when there are only woods in the other direction.
I'll be heading up that way more in the coming weeks. I've got a Rad Runner electric bike on order, which should be here next week. With a 65 km range on the battery, I'll be able to explore much further on the trails. I went with the Rad Runner over the other mountain bike styles for the back seat. @ladonator will be able to jump on the back and come with me easily and once he's just a little taller, I'm sure he'll be driving while I jump on the back.
I'll be sure to post on the new bike once it arrives.
As for the drone flight, I stopped after a few kilometers of biking around some farmland to launch. I found a little spot beside a culvert with some sun and a nice sound of running water to set up. I'd like to be getting out to some waterfalls and more wilderness hiking trails soon, but for now, this will have to do.
I flew around for almost an hour recording most of it. I did get some pictures, but things aren't as green as I'd like them to be yet to really get into the photographs. You can see the grass around is just starting to turn green, and the buds are on the trees ready to bring life back to the area, but it's not there yet.
I managed to cut everything down to less than 2 mins of video for you to check it out.
Enjoy!
