Buddy UP Community - "Word of The Week" = CRITICISM.

in dropintheocean •  5 years ago

Ohhh yet another "ism", nahhh just kidding!

The Buddy Up word of the week is criticism and in my mind all that comes to mind is the scene from "History of the world",

you have to watch it, no written words will do it any justice.

So you see, it is hard to be serious when this is what keeps spinning around in my head as I try to write a post for the Buddy Up "Word of The Week".

I can only try though.

Criticism as we all know is often enough something that is misunderstood as being "bad".

Although, I would say that the motives behind the criticism is what can make it "good or bad", so there is room for discussion there.

However, I dare say that too often when talking about facts, those that do not necessarily wish to accept these facts consider it "criticism" and this too often leads to a total distraction of the relevant topic at hand, which is done deliberately so as to discredit the messenger.

I guess "Don't kill the messenger" has a lot more meaning to it than what many could ever imagine.

Do you know or remember of situations like the one I just described above?

I am sure we have all seen it and even experienced it before.

Some even to the point where they do not even want to say it as it is, for they fear the wrath of those who disagree with the facts and who wish to in any way present facts as criticism instead of facts.

Unfortunately, this is where criticism of the truth, of cold hard facts becomes a cause for there to be any possible means applied so as to deny the truth, to make discredit not only the messenger but also the facts themselves.

We have all seen it.

Extremists through the course of man kinds history have always pushed their agendas in all specters of life, finding like minded people who have little to no tolerance for facts that they do wish to accept and then doing whatever is within their might/powers to counter it.

So criticism as such has been twisted and abused too many times, but not always from those who are the bearers of the bad news, more so from those who can't handle the facts and then do wrong so as to make themselves feel better.

The end.

There, I managed to be as serious as possible, but seriously, after that "First Art Critic" scene, man, how anyone can handle being serious, idk.

Yours truly,
@jackmiller
