Freestruction ~ Drop in the Ocean topic: Obstruction

in dropintheocean •  5 years ago  (edited)

The word for the week is obstruction, a simple thing. An act of obstruction or being obstructed is something we all have done or faced. Need I say more?

It did not really inspire anything for me to write about and sure as hell not that I care to design. @JuliaMulcahy illustrates it well enough, the fact that many times it is all just in our minds. We obstruct ourselves.

@TheHive and @Free-reign both covered the topic with prime real-life examples. What more is there to it? Nothing.

Obstruction means there is an obstacle, and the goal becomes to overcome this obstacle. Sometimes it is simply a case of identifying, assessing and going around or whichever way you end up overcoming the obstruction.

Really just nothing

Trying hard here to find a flow, to type words that provide me with the necessary momentum. I like when there is a flow or focus of kind this provides momentum and even when you stumble that is not the end. Like running down the defender in field hockey, I was never the best player but I promise you I will brute force my way through any supposed block... whether I have the ball after the fact is not really something I concerned myself with. This might also be why I got moved from front to being the defender myself.

Momentum helps a lot when you are in a state of flow or; and I hate saying it, a state of positivity. Then you tend to identify, assess and execute much faster. There is no time to be fucking about, you get shit done.

Some of the hippy cunts will call this the grind. I hate that. They are grinding, no twat grinding is what you do 2am on the dance floor with the last alcoholic chic left.

Perseverance, yes let us not forget perseverance because you will run out of steam and you will feel like it is all done or that you have reached a limit - imaginary limit. So just like our minds reset at certain points when we have not slept, you go into a kind of stasis, physically yet your mind is whizzing and just being a loud dick in general. Perseverance will allow you to stick with it, to build the momentum again. When motivation and will is effect then you can resolve to overcome the obstacle.

These things are moving targets, and as the stupid Sun does that stupid rising and setting business so will you either find the will to continue or not.

I may be all over the place, and whether I am speaking of physical or more situational obstacles might not be clear. It is not. They are basically the same thing. Lost in a mountain, or learning a new skill. Going out to find a job or standing up after being knocked the fuck down.

I see the people I engage with every day as obstacles, they are obstacles between me and being left alone. I also create my own obstacles, and this is unfortunately not something even self-harm can solve or maybe I need to have my brain have some electrotherapy to cure me of my disease.

Whoever, or whatever is in the way you do need to acknowledge that it is just a problem. Next, it might be wise to know whether all problems need solving?

I once read a quote somewhere, from someone who I can't remember- who said (paraphrasing)

"A problem is 'only' a problem, if you 'think' of it as a problem"...

Not sure if I totaly agree, but I really like the quote :>) anyway.

Very mind over matter. I apply that to inconsequential things like other peoples problems :) When my coffee or smokes are finished though and I ain't got cash then a problem is a problem no matter where I put the blinds.

I can relate...that's for sure.

I read the other entries, and they were great - those by @JuliaMulcahy @TheHive and of course yours, Pen, which I read last Friday. Julia's memes made for a very cool illustration of obstruction and Thehive gave a great explanation. I had fun writing a story based on a word, and plan to do it more often.
