Delivery

The first thought comes to milk. No Engine and Jack, I am not talking about boobs, and they deliver milk. I am talking about the milk delivery people get to their door step. I remember years ago most everyone I knew got milk delivered to their doorstep, some even got bread delivered too. Not something I see much of these days, still there delivering milk just not as popular to as many households. Milk delivery is becoming a lost art, Let's start a Steem campaign to Save the Milk-man. They used to be powered by electric motors, there seems to be a move back toward electric engines.

Delivery, the very first time I heard this word I could not tell you, I can tell you the very first time I thought I had an understanding of the word though. Back in the last century, cowboy films were a regular feature on the TV. I so wanted to be an Indian when I grew up. I would of made a good Indian too. Well in the film, When the cowboys rode in, If they did not tie the horse to the rail outside the bar, they generally sent the horse to the livery stable. They would pay a fee for their horse to stay there and be cared for. Some would use the livery stable to rent out their horse for the day. Somehow or another, Delivery and The Livery stables sound very much the same. without fail every time someone was waiting on a delivery (the livery), I was saddled into a stool by the window waiting for the horse that never came.

Why are comedians so dayum violent?
They always want a good PUNCH! line.

That joke may have been better if it had a better delivery. Thus why becoming a comedian was as successful as becoming an Indian. A joke can be really funny, if it is delivered wrong it loses much of its potency. With the right delivery and timing the same words can lighten the spirit. Sometimes it is not what is said, but who says it, how it was said when or where it was said. Some people recite words and others use the same words to share a feeling.

It is not always the message we hear that we tune into. Quite often the message intended can be missed simply by an error in the delivery. When we step outside of the comedy realm and into a seriousness of discussion. Should the emphasis remain in that of the delivery, or should a greater emphasis be placed on the listener? To gain an understanding of what is conveyed.

In the last century you would of received this post through the mail by a postal service delivery. For you young folk's out there, that is the envelopes that coming in through your letter box.

Well your delivery made me chuckle, @thehive so I guess my listening must have been spot on. I liked how you covered the various meanings of the word.

Wow. I didn't realize how many different meanings there were to the word "delivery" in English. In Korean, all these words have different verbs.

  1. deliver a baby, 2. deliver a letter, 3. deliver a message, 4. deliver a speech, 5. He is usually good with his promises, but this time, will he be able to "deliver"?
  2. deliver the Word....so many meanings!

Yes. The English language is full of words like that, and words with different meanings that sound very much the same.

You did such a great job pulling the topic together.

Communication takes two. It's a collaborative dance reading not only the words but facial ques. Makes it difficult to communicate without misinterpretation over digital means....something gets lost in translation.

I completely agree with @youhavewings. @thehive summed it up pretty well.
