When I consider the ‘cost’ of something it’s not just about the amount I have to pay at the cash register. This is important though, so you do want to make sure you’re getting a good deal. No one likes overpaying. Are you getting a good price for your sea moss?
Is your #seamoss a bargain where you've picked it up at a super rate? Have you got a great price per bag compared to other prices you've seen online? Maybe you got a 3 for the price of 2 deal?
When you buy sea moss there can be some tricky factors to consider. One that is often overlooked is the moisture content of the product. This is the single biggest aspect of figuring out if you got a good price or not.
So, what’s the moisture content, and how much of an impact can this have?
A lower moisture content will mean you are getting more sea moss per kilogram or pound. This may change the price of the packet, but there could be a lot more value in it if the moisture content is below 15%. Essentially, you're getting a larger quantity of sea moss if it is drier.
Some other aspects beyond this to consider may include:
- What is the cost of the trade you are engaging in, and are you supporting equitable access to a fair market for all?
- Does your sea moss purchase change lives in a way that it gives Farmers an income, and does it help reduce the chances that they will face devastating costs related to alternative ways of making a living in a lucrative economy?
And last, but not by any measure least, how much does your sea moss cost the overall environment? We all want to live in a beautiful world, and a clean and healthy planet plays a big part in this for many of us.
