Serious drug addiction is a self-reinforcing loop. The deeper you get into an addiction, the harder it is to improve your life and it usually gets worse as you get more addicted, which just perpetuates your hatred of your reality that much deeper.
The key is to break the addiction cycle and to do that, you must focus on things that will seriously improve your life long-run and give you more hope in your future reality.
-Work on building a skill that is valued in the marketplace but that you also enjoy.
-Start saving and don’t touch the money once invested. Give yourself hope that someday you’ll be able to have wealth (which will never happen when you’re endlessly paying for your harmful alcohol or drug addictions.
-Get into an exercise routine and relate real goals so you can have a target to obtain and it’ll become more realistic.
Stop sacrificing your more important long-run gains for some short-term addiction fix and you’ll end up loving reality. Focus on and hang with good people and let the troubled losers fall to the wayside, and your future reality becomes much more attractive.
