DHAKA: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Wahidul Islam said drug dealers fled their dens following citywide anti-narcotics drives.
“The drive was launched in five slums of Mohammad Shia Mosque area from 12 pm. Apart from thana police, DB Police, Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) members, and Dog Squad participated in the operation,” after completing the drive, he said.
10 suspects were detained with 200 pieces of yaba pills in that drive, he said.
According to what could be gathered, air-conditioned houses with TV, refrigerators, inside the slum, it is clear that they are involved in drug trade.
Asked if any innocent was harassed, the police official said, “They, who were detained, were found in suspicious state. Following interrogation in police station, the culprits will be tried.”
Geneva Camp, the hub of drug trade, is under police surveillance, the police official also said.
