In a time where drugs are more readily available then the money people buy them with, it seems weird that there are still grey areas surrounding the whole industry. Take marijuana for example which is still illegal in the whole of the UK and this is a plant which grows naturally it's not a man made substance like Heroine or Crack ; this is besides the point what I'm really trying to say is 'marijuana' the tamest of drugs has still not been tested properly and the general public have not been given the results of what this drug does physically or mentally to your body. Looking at the harder drugs that we have available to us in the UK I feel as though drugs addicts should be given the chance to better themselves and there must be a reason as to why they have got so far deep into the abyss they are in. My point being we should not treat drug addiction as a criminal problem but we should treat it as a mental one and for mental issues we create facilities whereby these people can receive treatment for there illness.
Picture wanting to try a certain drugs because your mates all done it last weekend you have to now go through the same ordeal whereby you have to go and meet a dealer in a dodgy dim light area which is known for stabbings and shootings or would you rather a centre you could go to that was clean and you have workers who were specially dedicated to making your time there as comfortable as possible. Now I know people reading this might be thinking well hang on how are we going to pay for this and would this just create a society with more drug users. This won't be the case however because you will have presented people with a choice just because people are given a choice doesn't mean there going to choose the wrong option, saying that is there even a wrong option here ; imagine a world where everyone was open minded no one was fearful of what might happen everyone just worries about themselves and just trying to be better, this to me would be a world whereby drugs would be decriminalised as this would so me that the leaders were not fearful of what might happen because they would have trust in us to act responsibly the same way we trust them to run our world responsibly (Do they do this, well that for another article.)
