The program for the policy summit
Yesterday we attended the policy summit and heard from all of these great speakers. I learned a lot about a bunch of great people and organizations, such as Been Jealous, 2018 candidate for governor of Maryland and former president & CEO of the NAACP, and Hood Incubator, a nonprofit in California that works to fund and transition people from the black market to legitimate businesses. Great information. It was all streamed live on cspan.
Did you know that the US jails more people for marijuana possession than all violent crimes combined?
POC are arrested almost 4x as much as white even though they use marijuana only slightly more.
We have a lot of work to do ending the war on drugs. Prohibition is a failed policy that results in far more harm than drugs ever will. Legalization & regulation of all drugs similarly to alcohol is necessary.
