Offering with open arms to help cure and treat a drug addicted person instead of arresting them sounds good in theory.
However from what i have seen here in melbourne australia where such things are available and with the safe haven of injectin rooms that drug usage has not declined.
Perhaps instead of arresting people for first time drug related offences ( mainly over a night or 2 stay in lockup) the police should instead provide such support programs and service as a mandatory policy to try and curb such first time drug offenders from being addicted any further.
