Jeff Sessions apparently thinks pain is a joke. While speaking in Tampa recently, Sessions said “I mean people should be able to take some aspirin sometime. Tough it out.”1
Sessions also mentioned that he thinks strong opioid painkillers are overprescribed in the US. “Fentanyl is the number one killer drug in America,” he said. “Scheduling and restricting all forms of this drug will make it easier for you and your agents to investigate and prosecute the drug traffickers.” While I don't disagree with Sessions when he says that strong opioid painkillers are overprescribed in the US, but I disagree with his ideas how how to control it.
For one thing, Sessions doesn't believe that use of cannabis can curb opioid use and addiction. Researchers found a 6.5-percent decline in opioid-linked deaths after recreational cannabis was made legal in Colorado in 2014.2
There isn't one simple answer when it comes to how to combat the ever-growing opioid epidemic. I'm not naive enough to think that cannabis can just fix it. That may help, but what needs to happen is Big Pharma needs to be held accountable.
Personally, I think people suffering from the science-repelling, racist elf Sessions should "tough it out" and get blazed until he's gone.

Allowing people to use cannabis as an alternative is a start. I also think Suboxone should be made more available for people to get off opioids. For doctors to be able to prescribe suboxone they have to get a special certification, so there for most doctors are not able to prescribe it. Yes suboxone can be abused as well, but when used right, and with somebody willing to take the steps to get clean, it is a wonderful drug.

I agree. While cannabis isn't guaranteed to help every single person who uses it, it's likely, and they should have the right to pursue that treatment if they want. Ironically, I'm sure it's easier to prescribe fentanyl than suboxone.

Free people don't need to be "allowed" to do anything. They are free to do it.

Typical politician who gets more money, the more they push pharma drugs.
Aspirin is more dangerous than pot, but the pot industry won't pay into Session's campaign.

Totally. Thanks for sharing that story, too. People in general need to be made more aware of facts like that. I have family members who still believe reefer madness despite the fact that I'm a clear example of someone who can use copious amounts of cannabis and also be very productive. Hell, most of Steemit is. :)

My thoughts is just that thoughts my opinion should not have any power. Jeff sessions may think people should tough it out but thats all he should be able to do is think it. The problem with america today is people think there responsible for others, when what someone does is on them. If you think you feel less pain when you punch yourself in the face then whatever do it! If you use heroin to numb your pain then whatever I may think its not a good idea but I can not force you to do anything else. If I could say one thing to sessions I would say, why do you think you should be able to decide for someone else how they should numb their pain? Where do you feel you have the power to stop someone from smoking weed or doing coke or drinking beer? Whats next! people that are over weight should be put on exercise programs and given a card that only allows them to buy certain foods? This is a moral problem plain and simple.

I have helped many people gain pain relief from cannabis therapy. It has saved the health and lives of so many people.
This idiot is just uninformed and cop happy. He wants more war on drugs! More military support and equipment for police when they should have way less.

That's a good example of why we don't need more testing on cannabis, too. People have been helping people use cannabis to heal for longer than the United States has been a country.

People often can't see reason even if others put it under their noses. Pride is too big. Or it's simply not convenient for their own (and their friends') agenda. Regardless, being not objective when in a position of power, be it for direct power or influecing power, it's just selfish at best.
The war on drugs has never achieved anything aside from spreading more pain.
Not gonna say legalizing stuff is gonna make everything better, but people wouldn't be as hooked up on prescription drugs if they had available other substances which carry low LD50 and great efficacy (high therapeutic index)
Kratom and cannabis often are what people need to ease their pain and suffering without many drawbacks (if any)

Yeah, and they're trying to ban Kratom now too! Or they did, I think.
