"HECKERISM" - Ambient Modular Synth Composition

in dsound •  5 years ago  (edited)

This piece employs one of my favorite composition brainstorming techniques: creating a droning underscore on the modular that focuses primarily on interesting, sequenced modulation and repetitive soundscaping ... then adding understated melodic themes in ableton to augment whatever direction I felt best flattered the piece. This piece felt inspired by some serious time invested in Tim Hecker's newest record, Konoyo. It is a lush timbral universe to climb into. This is barely a closet by comparison. I really can’t recommend a deep dive into his work enough. Start here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_k8MXyLFIaSzHuOfM3UHYvW7IZKcmASMxA

I like that avant grade vibe, the burst of energy at the end it pretty cool too, it’s like a story told by machines 😎
