Full transcript:

I'm Ethan Smith, and this is The STEEM Engine Express.

We begin today with a STEEM Engine newcomer. @tripdespider is an account by a collective with the same name that plans to share its efforts in content creation on Steemit. These include efforts in art, music, short films, video montages, and games. This week, they've offered a preview of their upcoming mobile game called &Black&White, a 2D stealth adventure developed with Unreal Engine. The post offers screenshots from gameplay, as well as summaries of the abilities of the main character and the goals for the game. If you enjoy game development, this post offers an interesting look into the story behind the game, as well as some previews of music from the game's soundtrack. The game will be out soon for Android and iOS, so be sure to follow @tripdespider for more announcements!

Engagement on Steemit comes naturally to many users, but what about engaging other Steemit users offline? This week, STEEM Engine passenger @pumpkinsandcats shares her experience at the first organized Steemit meetup in Wales. Featuring tea and cakes from user @pennsif and custom t-shirts sent by @papa-pepper, the Wales Steemit meetup was an overwhelming success. Be sure to check out this blog for photos from the event, and perhaps you'll get some ideas for organizing Steemit meetups in your area!

Steemit has brought together users from across the globe, and at The STEEM Engine, we have enjoyed hearing from our members from many countries and locales. This week, passenger @donfelix shares information about his home country of Nigeria. If you're interested in learning more about the country's history, divisions, climate, and tourism, check out this informative post about a region where Steemit has become very popular and has had a large economic impact.

Responding to comments on Steemit can be one of the best ways to meet new users and increase your followers. But what happens when you can't always respond to every comment? STEEM Engine passenger and infamous Railroad Cop @AwakentoLife shares a heartfelt open apology letter to his followers for neglecting to respond to comments on his blogs. @AwakentoLife takes this moment to share some tips for how to be aware of all comments on your posts, including the most helpful piece of advice to use @neander-squirrel's GINAbot to receive comment notifications on Discord. The latest chapter in his "My Life's Journey" post series, @AwakentoLife's posts offers great advice for Steemians new and old, so I hope you'll give it a read and check out his recommendations!

Finally today, we take a look at a new project on Steemit and its impact on STEEM Engine passengers. User @calumam shares his thoughts on the new BuddyUP project, which seeks to pair Steemians on Discord so they can support and engage each other. The project also has dedicated channels for information for new Steemians, as well as a gratitude channel and post promotion channel. If you're looking for information on getting started, or you're a seasoned Steemian looking to mentor other members, check out the BuddyUP Discord server today!

That's all for today's curation segment.

I take a few off-script moments to thank:

Loved the podcast and you've gained a new weekly listener. I really liked the train effects, you absolutely nailed it.

Hey @calumam! We're so glad you're part of The STEEM Engine. I've really enjoyed getting to know our members through this podcast. I think the BuddyUP initiative is fantastic, and I wish you success with it in the future. I hope you'll continue to update us on the accomplishments!

I'm glad you enjoyed the podcast! I've really enjoyed producing them so far. Probably one of my favorite things I've done on Steemit. I did a blog a while back on how I made the train-themed intro if you're interested!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hi, from a new Steemit member. Thank you for introducing me to Steemit podcasts. I loved the intro and appreciate your review of recent posts. I will check some of them out.

Welcome to Steemit! Thank you for your comment. I appreciate that you told me you'd be checking out some of the posts, and I hope you'll share your thoughts on their posts when you visit. If you like something particular about the podcast or any of these posts, I hope you'll take the time to share it with me.

Engaging others on their posts in a meaningful way is one of the best ways to get started on Steemit. I'll have a look at your blog. Have you done an intro post yet?

Thank you for the welcome. No I haven't done my blog or intro post yet. I was just approved a few days ago and am still trying to figure everything out. I'm leaving for Hawaii this weekend, and wanted to take my intro pic there by the ocean. :)

That would be great! You can definitely make a splash that way. I'll keep an eye out for it. Make sure you let me know!

I always give the same advice to all new Steemians, so I'll leave these tips here for you in hopes that they will help you along the way.

  • Familiarize yourself with the way the platform works by browsing the FAQs.

  • Check out the Steemit Etiquette Guide for tips on how to interact with others in the community and how to introduce yourself to everyone.

  • If you'd like some advice on how to make your posts great, take a look at this guide I posted about polishing your posts.

  • Finally, when it comes to commenting, check out this guide that will get you on the road to becoming a comment expert!

After you've got a few blogs under your belt, if you're interested in plugging into a community that focuses on supporting its members and curating great content, look no further than The STEEM Engine. Come check us out!

The rest is up to you, but if you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them!

Best wishes and happy Steeming!

Haha, love the 'splash'. I will let you know. And thanks for all of the tips. I will check them out. Appreciate it.

Thanks for featuring us, you managed to explain what we are doing better than we did it in our introduceyourself post. :)

You're very welcome! I'm glad I helped capture the spirit of your initiative. It will be interesting to follow your efforts as you continue to share, so keep up the good work! I hope your game launch goes well!

Thank You So much for mentioning the #SteemWales meet up =D

You're welcome! It's always nice to see the efforts of our members in the real world to help promote Steemit!

Thanks for taking the time to do these Ethan. I enjoy listening to your podcasts.

Hey Derek,

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and have a listen. I hope you'll take the time to check out the posts that I featured if you haven't already. It's always difficult picking from the posts shared over in The STEEM Engine because there are so many good ones.

Great fun as usual! Thanks for sharing some great posts that I missed out on. Need to catch up. :) These sound so fun for you to make, maybe we all should try doing one. ;) Ha.

Making these podcasts has been one of my favorite initiatives that I've done on Steemit. Of course, I've probably already told you that. I've been encouraging other users to branch out and give podcasting a try!

The Panama Podcast has some nice alliteration, and I'm sure you could come up with plenty of things to talk about!

Good work as usual from you with these podcasts. I will cut some slack to our good Rail Road cop on replying to comments, as he has a whole lot of his time keeping the passengers under control on the train.

That is true. He has quite the job keeping everyone under control. I think it says a lot that he values comments so much, though. It's something that all of us should keep in mind.

I appreciate you listening week after week! Perhaps I'll feature another Daily Dose in the podcast soon.

It not only shows that he values comments; his work in there insures that the comments we receive are quality comments from the members. Nothing more aggravating for a writer to spend hours doing research and compiling a high quality post only to be rewarded with dozens of "Nice post" or "Good info man" , you know exactly what I mean from experience; so I'm preaching to the choir with this response.
Someday I will write another piece worthy of your review but with the quality of work that our members produce it becomes more of a challenge. You've known me for a while so you know I'm here for different reasons than most, so it isn't as important to me as it is to others to be featured or included in lists. It is a nice honor when it occurs but like I have said more that once, my intended audience of readers haven't even been born yet.

Well I'm glad to be counted among your readers currently, even if your intended audience hasn't been born. I appreciate your thoughtful responses to my blogs. I'll be sure to swing by your blog soon to see what I've missed out on.

As for Duro, he does make an excellent enforcer, and you're right. no one enjoys getting a few one-word comments after working hard on a post. Just take a look at some of the ones I've gotten on this post. haha

Thanks again.

this was really once again great thanks for sharing this on Dsound :)

DSound has been a great medium to distribute these podcasts. I'm happy that I can contribute to its success! Do you have any projects on DSound?

the podcast was simply amazing to listen too thanks for sharing :)

Why thank you! Is there anything in particular that you enjoyed? I'm always looking for feedback so that I can adjust future episodes!

Another great episode! I'll jump around and check some of the posts :-D

Great! I hope you'll share your thoughts with them on their posts! It's always great to see engagements on the featured posts that are generated from this podcast. That's what it's all about!

Thanks again for @thesteemengine podcast.

I saw @tripdespider around and now I can see what he is doing. Thanks for promoting posts that encourage engaging users offline. Thanks to @awakentolife for advice in using ginabot. There is so much going on here in one minute my head is spinning. This is a great way to use DSound. They are doing great curation work @prc.

You're welcome! Thank you for stopping by to listen.

I'm glad you were able to check out the posts I featured in this episode. It's always great to know that they are getting extra visibility. I've definitely enjoyed using DSound to distribute this podcast, and I plan to continue to do so for future episodes!

Good post your friends My friends are very happy with your post and I thank you for everything you post Thank you for sharing things I can learn

I'm curious what you learned from this podcast. Please let me know, because I want to know what my listeners think of the presentation! I also encourage you to read the posts that I shared about in this podcast.

good

Hey @emmawill.

I'd love to know what you think is good. This comment tells me you didn't even bother to read or listen to my podcast, you were just trying to increase your comment count. I looked at your blog, and it looks like you comment things like this very often. Generic, sometimes one or two words. This isn't the way to build relationships on Steemit. Many times, comments like these can get flagged, and you don't want that to happen.

I encourage you to read this article about proper commenting etiquette. I guarantee if you change your commenting behavior, you'll be able to form meaningful relationships and after some time increase your followers and earnings! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Also, if you can follow up this comment and let me know what specifically you enjoyed about the podcast, that would be great! I'm genuinely interested in the thoughts of the people who listen!

I will follow you! I give you UP
