Mike Harrison - Heartless Excerpt [Original Score]

I'm actually really excited to share this one with you guys. Story goes - I was hired to score a film a few years back called 'Heartless'. It's a story about heartbreak essentially, and it was the first film that I really got to supplement the emotions that you're to be feeling strongly with music. I was really happy with how this one came out - very sad and sombre.

The whole [short] film was somewhere around 15 minutes long if I remember correctly, this sequence comes from one of the final dialogues. I actually like it better to not give you guys too much backstory on the scene, as I think the music does a pretty solid job of painting that picture (which is why I was so happy with the composition).

I love doing these sort of simplistic, almost improv'd sequences of just a piano or rhodes. You can pack so much emotion into just these simple, underplayed notes - it's awesome. Where as a lot of the time I produce much more tech-y, calculated music, this is the kind of music that I believe comes from the heart, and you really have to get into that moment to score it effectively.

Anyways, here's a little excerpt from the film 'Heartless' that I scored - thanks for listening!

Thanks man! Appreciate you always coming by to listen!

That is BEAUTIFUL. I like your somber, ambient, ethereal stuff. I know that's all subjective though.
Keep 'em coming fella.

Really appreciate that @leftamessage, thanks! Glad you liked it!

Man!. That ending really brings it home. Great work

Thanks dude! It's funny how the movies I like and the movies I like scoring are like directly inversed lol. I love scoring drama because there's so much emotion in it.

Again another good one and pretty cool to know that you make some money doing what you enjoy...keep it up man.

Thanks @godandcountry - it's a really tough industry to be in but I'm happy enough just to be in it!
