Delumination

My objective for this track was to create something in the chill/downtempo genre. Something you can put on a playlist (or a mixtape if you're old enough) and be part of the soundtrack for a nice relaxing drive or... you know... sexy times.

I tried. Honestly, I tried.

Right from the start, this... THING... took control of my DAW and forced me to let it out into the world. What was supposed to be "quiet evening in front of the fireplace"or "Netflix and chill" music turned into "locked in an isolated cabin during a snowstorm with a glass of whiskey in one hand and a revolver in the other" music.

It reminds me of a line from "O.G.: Original Gangster" by Ice-T, where he says "I try to write about fun and the good times. But the pen yanks away and explodes and destroys the rhyme." There are no rhymes in this song, but damn if that line doesn't describe this perfectly. I guess I shouldn't have tried to use phrygian scale for sexy-time music. Won't make that mistake again.

My electronic instrumentals range from eerie dark ambient to rock-influenced electronica to bass-heavy breakbeat. I refuse to limit myself to just one subgenre. The one unifying thread throughout my work stems from my lifelong love of imaginative fiction, horror movies, and tales of the paranormal… all of which make their way into the titles and themes of my music.
