Descend // Instrumental Mix

in dsound •  6 years ago  (edited)

I found this instrumental mix of Descend last night. I know everyone loves vocals, but sometimes I feel like they just get in the way.

I've always been more of a composer than an actual songwriter. What I find most interesting about music is all the harmonic layers underneath the melody.

It took many years of frustration to finally realize that most people don't actually feel that way.
Years of various producers, engineers, and fellow musicians arguing with me about my mixes being too busy.
They couldn't understand that in my mind, a certain synth or sound effect was just as important to me as my vocal.

I guess my densely packed mixes are a representation of what is going on with me internally.
Sometimes all the layers have to battle it out in an emotionally intense, neurotic way.

The composer Debussy said:
"Music is the silence between the notes".
Isaria says:
"Fill up that silence with more notes!"

Debussy would not approve.

When I pass by here, I know what I will find, musical maturity full of well-designed originality, pure quality, excellent work as always, greetings!

Thank you! <3

The busy-ness definitely works for your writing style, sounds awesome. It's a beautifully done instrumental. This shifts my attention to all the other stuff going on that I didn't hear on the first run.

I feel like the majority of people are 'vocal/lyric' listeners. I always gravitate towards instrumentals and mood before anything else.

I realize you are talking about important music things, but that is an awesome photo. You look amazing!

lol that's ok, important music things can be rather boring.
Thank you!!!

Very sensitive and pleasant...i love it!

I know exactly what you're saying about the harmonic layers underneath. Been trying to listen to this but Dsound isn't working for me:/
Followed you on Choon <3

Oh cool I'll find you on Choon and follow you too! I made a Steemit Musicians playlist so I'll add your songs to it as well.

Well, thank you, that's really cool. I've been uploading 1 per day so I'm on day 3 right now.

I love it, and I like that "complete that silence with more notes" because in music there are no empty spaces, music is life!

This starts off slow and gets really awesome towards the middle. Excellent stuff. I hope you don't mind me saying that you look incredible in the thumbnail. :D

Thank you! :)

GREAT MUSIC AND INTERPRETATIONS.

I see that you’re new here and likely haven’t really figured this place out yet. I’ll assume you just joined and go easy on you.

This isn’t the way to make friends, gain followers nor earn upvotes. The practice of commenting on a post — without even mentioning what the post is about — just to ask for an upvote and follow is really quite tacky and will get you nowhere. No one appreciates it.

If you want to grow on this platform, make an effort — try reading things and responding meaningfully — without asking for anything in return. Forget about possible profits — try to connect with the people. Indeed, that is the only way you’ll have a chance of earning any rewards. And you might just earn some respect while you’re at it.

The link he put is a phising spam link, that steals people's account

Even more gross. I was being gracious — now I’ll flag it. 😠

Certainly I'm always too careful these people are thieves @arcange always does his best to fish them out I never reply but flag.

Thank you for letting us know!

Of course, meanwhile the dsound isn't playing, I'm thinking it's my network

Beautifully stated Zippy <3

This shit grates on my nerves. Had to say somethin.

Meanwhile — I can’t get dsound to play this for me. I’ll have to try again once back at my desk.
