Metallica. Whisky In the Jar. Acoustic Instrumental. Jeff.

let's face it.. either love em, or hate em, you can't fault them!!

Many o time I have overheard people talking smack about Metallica but they are usually the ones who do not play an instrument or play it poorly!

For me, Metallica are the reason I took an interest in music!

When I was a teen a friend showed me the intro to Nothing Else Matters, just the first 6 notes of the open strings and after playing that with a beat I was hooked from there on.

I remember my mam buying my first acoustic guitar from a local second-hand shop called Fred Olds New And Used.

The years of playing went by and after exploring all of the different Metallica albums and styles of songs, major concrete foundations were laid in my playing ability because we never had the internet back then, every note and sound had to be figured out by ear.

Here is a take of the Whisky In The Jar version they covered.

Excuse the lame ass ending lol

Hope Y'all have a splendid day.

Metallica requests?? Try me :)

Lyrics.

As I was goin' over
The Cork and Kerry Mountains
I saw Captain Farrell
And his money, he was countin'

I first produced my pistol
And then produced my rapier
I said, "Stand and deliver or the devil he may take ya"

Musha rain dum a doo, dum a da
Whack for my daddy, oh
Whack for my daddy, oh
There's whiskey in the jar, oh

I took all of his money
And it was a pretty penny
I took all of his money,
Yeah, and I brought it home to Molly

She swore that she loved me,
No, never would she leave me
But the devil take that woman,
Yeah, for you know she tricked me easy

Musha rain dum a doo, dum a da
Whack for my daddy, oh
Whack for my daddy, oh
There's whiskey in the jar, oh

Cheers.

I am getting a bit of flack from other places I have posted it .... I should of made it the original Thin Lizzy version. Not plastered Metallica over it lol

All good though.
Yeew. Hope your well.

I may be showing my age, but the original Whisky In the Jar was actually a Thin Lizzy track. But this anorak fact doesn't take away from you great playing man, hope its nice and warm out there - its brass in UK!

Nope Kryptoe you are perfectly right ;). I did start out with the Lizzy track in mind.. It evolved from there haha. Cheers man, It;s bladdy beautiful. But it is so humid my guitar strings don't last a couple of weeks!
10 bucks a pop out here!

Metallica..... gotta love em! So many good songs.
Nice work mate!

Yeeeow Thomas. Yeah can't fault them! Sooo many. I am looking forward to exploring some with the acoustic. A gentle version of Unforgiven r summet...lol
Ideas man :)

They’ve got an instrumental on the ride the lightning album called “call of cthulhu”. Some of that would probably sound cool on an acoustic.

I know it very well :)
Keep your ears and eyes peeled :)

Will do good sir!

Actually this song is originally not from Metallica (which is a band I also love) but apparently is a traditional irish song...I freaking love this song! Thin Lizzy's version is really amazing too!

Excellent Albert! I was going to write the history of the tune in the description. Guess I got carried away talking turkey :)
