It started with the line "Put something in my blood stream to take away the pain, attenuate my anxiety, make me go astray" that I came up with driving to work thinking about how happy I was to get proper help for the really problematic anxiety disorder I've been dealing with for more than 10 years.
So it's more or less a tribute to SSRI medication and then becomes some kind of explanation of my way of thinking about what makes life meaningful.
Put something in my bloodstream, to take away the pain
Atenuate my anxiety, make me go astray
Then cover me with blankets, to ease my aching heart
I don't wanna be a martyr, though I suffer for the art
Don't preach about eternity, this life is fairly well
Stop lie to us I now that there's no heaven there's no hell
If Jesus is your savior, than cross me off your list
In the end I might get burned, I gladly take that risk
Set me on fire
