Your Dreams by Jon Magnusson

in dsound •  6 years ago

A catchy indie rock tune with strong folk influences. Written about struggle; be it personal, political or otherwise, a theme we’re all familiar with in some variety and he’s left room for the listener to decide how it applies to them.

LYRICS
You will never be defeated no matter how bad you are treated, and even though they try to strike you down
Cause your dignity and honesty is something that they will never find

And at night when you are sleeping you can feel their anger creeping, trying step for step to break you down
But hold to your dreams and keep them hiding them inside

Cause in your dreams, you can go so far away
and in your thoughts, you can go so far away
And your hunger, can take you so far away, away

And they will wake you after twilight with a gun under the limelight, and will force your knees onto the ground
But your dignity and honesty is something that they will never find

And even though they are desided, to repress you to be blinded, and they took away your one last smile
You hold to your dreams and keep them hiding them inside

Cause in your dreams, you can go so far away
and in your thoughts, you can go so far away
And your hunger, can take you so far away, away

Everything is naked, you have been inside their haven, you have seen through all their stories
But your freedom and your happiness were something you deserted, it can never be inverted

Cause in your dreams, you can go so far away
and in your thoughts, you can go so far away
And your hunger, can take you so far away, away

Cause in your dreams, you can go so far away
and in your thoughts, you can go so far away
And your hunger, can take you so far away, away
