A Strange And Beautiful Flower

What if you slept and what if
in your sleep you dreamed and what if
in your dream you went to heaven
and there plucked a strange and beautiful flower
and what if
when you awoke
you had that flower in your hand

what then?

Take my soul and corrode my heart
Shatter my dreams and tear me apart

Music and mix by @juliakponsford

That is very deep. I love diving into the rabbit hole of endless possibilities on topics such as this. Thanks!

Where have you been until now @juliakponsford? Following you!

I've been right here all along :D I'm glad you enjoyed it dreams are one of the most intriguing things that exist!

So dark and minimal. Two of my favorite electronic adjectives! Really really dig it, as always Julia!

Thanks, I'm a huge fan of andy stott who I would classify as dark/minimal, i don't know if you know him, his track violence is one of my all time faves!

Commence dark/minimal wormhole journey. 🧐

Edit: Faith In Strangers gonna be the soundtrack for today. Thanks for the tip, Julia!!! This kinda slowburn soundscape-before-percussion stuff is everything I’m about right now, even if my own pieces rarely survive to completion being this minimal. We can all (sparsely) dream right.

Ever listen to any of Alessandro Cortini’s solo stuff? Might be way up your alley as it’s dark, minimal and some of the most disciplined and righteous Buchla work -ever-.

Yes it's so subtle then that bass drops uuuuuuuunnnfff, so good, I'll check out Alessandro Cortini the name doesn't sound familiar!

I had an experience like this years ago, i was in a new relationship and i don't ever remember going to sleep, but i do remember i woke up and there was a rose on my bed, and i called him and asked had he been there, he told me no, to this day, I don't know if I just went crazy for a moment or what. Love your writings and art, each style from you and @vachemorte 's movie to the poem here today. Alwats look forward to reading and experiencing art through others eyes, thank you!!

Oh that's sort of creepy and sort of sweet maybe 😯 Thank you!

It was definitely creepy, I really thought he was playing with me he held onto him never being in my apartment, who knows what happened, but I will always remember that experience.

Change all your locks and be safe...That is if you have flowers still appearing unannounced. Some might say it's romantic, but I would say it is not safe... and yes creepy also.. Our next film: The flowers that drank the moon.

I left the city and moved on down the road, I thought it was quite creepy! the movie would be awesome no doubt about that!

"The flowers that drank the moon" is a fictionnal movie mentionned in a funny line from the movie Ghostworld. Julia know about it already and now you are in the loop too.

It would definitely shake your concept of what is reality. Crossing the boundaries between what we think is dream and what we think is real...

Thank you for your thoughts Mike :D your avi works so well in this context!

Hehe, thanks :)

This makes me think of a time when I was pretty interested in lucid dreaming. Have you ever looked into it?

After a while of actively trying to increase the details in the memories of my dreams, I ended up remembering them just as much as my memories of being awake!

Anyways, great stuff!

(P.s., it's cool to meet another Canadian musician on here! Just stumbled upon Steemit, and I'm starting to love it!)

I have heard of lucid dreaming but I have never been able to achieve it. I did keep a dream journal for a while but I wasn't super consistent with it, i can only remember my dreams well for a few minutes after i wake up and the journal really helped with that!

Wouldn't it be wonderful if when we did sleep we always visited heaven/Valhalla and gathered the flowers that were little pieces of the souls of those who have gone before us of those we love and have loved us and then as we woke, our new day was made up of those little pieces of the past and those that have gone and in a way they see again through us and we see new each day, by their love?

I just felt moved to ramble... :)

That was a lovely ramble, maybe it's partly true <3

One can hope :)

cool, i like it so much, keep going

Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I love the image at top. This is sweet and creative. I like the innocence mixed with darker layers underneath.

Thanks I created that image for the collaborative art journey :)

Di antara alam nyata dan mimpi, anda benar meresapnya

You are turning the wheel in a big way of late! This is truly luscious and beautiful, thick and low, and magical.

Keep turning that wheel.

Thank you magical is always a good target :D music is magic❤️

Wow, I really love your words and how you use language in this piece. Also the photography is all amazing (in this post and everywhere else I’ve seen your stuff!). I’m following you now, I only joined 4 days ago, and can’t wait to see more. :)

u made me fall in love again lol

I love your art for this!! This sounds like a badass intro for the next Julia & Jose film. Ya'll should really make "The Flowers That Drank the Moon" Sounds so epic. Ima have to watch Ghostworld now :)

If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it, it's directed by terry zwigoff and has steve buscemi, Thora birch and scarlett johannsen , such a classic almost every scene makes me laugh, we quote it all the time :D

ohhhh WHAT?? I definitely have to watch it.
It sounds good....
nacho really good.gif

That was great!

I started listening to dsound throughout the day, and I'm pretty happy I made that decision :)
