I'm grooving with this one Zig!

Also, I'm sure I'm wrong but that lick sounds similar to 'Manteca', at least to me.

CONGRATULATIONS, WINNER!!! OK sending you the 1.00 SBD now... Thanks for listening, and commenting...

I'm just reading this. I can't believe I got it right because I wasn't sure if it was Manteca, because of the way you flipped the lick, although it doesn't sound like a sample, will you show this on Wednesday? I would love to learn about how you made this joint

Wow, I am so glad you asked! Yes, I did put this one in the queue for Wednesday's show ... and told @d-vine how you won the contest. Yes I would love to have your input into the conversation, I am somewhat amazed how you nailed the correct answer right away. I mean, technically Dizzy Gillespie was a big part of the Bebop scene before he started leading the movement into Latin Jazz, to hear how you knew the tune when most Americans may know his name but rarely know his music ...

I didn't sample it, by the way... I was riffing on my keyboard when I found it, was looking for a melody for the head of the tune. Sure I could riff on it some more tomorrow on the show ... Thanks!

One of my neighbours is a sax player and he often plays a little bit on sunday afternoons. When I was little he used to play jazz on some speakers full volume, Joe Pass, Dizzy, Coltrane, Baker & a bunch of latin jazz. I recognized the tune right away but I wasn't sure about if it was the exact song. I'm eager to hear you play some more later, it's amazing you didn't sample it, it sounds perfect.

Wow, thanks! What a wonderful story! It's those sorts of happenings throughout life that shape a musical journey ... Let's definitely tell this story and more in a few hours on the 'radio' !

nice chilled out tune man

Thank you, my friend! Occasionally I do lighten-up a bit and chill-out ... but I do balance it out with all sorts of other stuff...
