#TrashJamTuesday Elemental Overdrive (Backstory Explained)

in dsound •  7 years ago  (edited)

Oh boy, here is a doozy... This is the first song I ever recorded by myself in my room. It is the self titled song of our band (Elemental Overdrive).I was probably around 13 when I recorded this with my friends Sam, Cory, Cbass, and Eli. We wanted to be a hard hitting rock band and it... didn't end up turning out that way.

We had this riff, right? The beginning of the song and... that was about it. Sam had come up with it and we were messing around trying to figure out the words. The original lyrics were about being a mad scientist putting together body parts and eventually coming up with a new creation.

That was quickly scrapped.

Cbass then wrote a poem (which I sadly have lost to the ages) about the apocalypse which we then rewrote into the NUCLEAR apocalypse.

Below is the first page of trial and error.

This is the page we finally started to get somewhere...

We then recorded. In a single day we wrote the lyrics and recorded the song and, because I had no idea what I was doing, We recorded the song in about an hour and only did a few takes.

Except the Vocals.

That was one take.

So many errors... ugh...

Anyway, that's the story. Get ready for the cringe enducing sound of "Elemental Overdrive."

Happy #TrashJamTuesday
