WE COME AND THEN WE GO: UNCHARTED SPACES III

in dsound •  6 years ago  (edited)

I wrote this poem listening to Johnny Drille's Wait For Me. I have spoken about how this song makes me feel. It drains me and makes me despondent. Yet that is the best time for me to write. For in those moments, I do not care what I create and do not consider the social conflicts that could arise from what I write.

I will upload the recording but will post the text later as a result of my inability to edit on dsound satisfactorily. For those who would listen to this recording as well as reading the text, you will notice that there are certain errors that are corrected in the text but ignored in the recording. I actually recorded again but this particular recording captured me more because it had more emotion compared to the rest. So please ignore my errors, I plead.

The poem itself speaks about how the earth has been broken. The poet persona speaks and dares anyone to stop him from saying what he feels. The poet persona believes that the world is in such a state because man is not a permanent resident on the planet, he comes and then he goes.

The poet persona does a step further and places a curse on anyone who fails to inform the next generation that his generation destroyed the world.

It should be noted that I do not agree with the poet persona's point of view. This was a string of stanzas that fell off me without control. I simply let the muse do her thing. She came, she breathed and she sang. So if you do not agree with the poet persona, understand that I totally agree with you. 😂
