One of my favorite hip-hop songs of all time is "Mc's Act Like They Don't Know" by KRS-One. In addition to having some of KRS-One's best and hardest verses, it also has a super-dope, super-hard beat from DJ Premier, and the centerpiece of that beat is a sample from Clifford Brown's version of the jazz staple "Yesterdays." Partly as an homage to the KRS-One song, I decided to use the same sample and take things my own direction. The original is much better in its hard-hitting simplicity, but mine has some value in that there is a lot going on, a little more progression in where the beat goes.
