Thorny Tribal Dancer
Sketchbook
Derwent watercolor pen
Crayola washable color pens
Hello creative community,
I made this drawing today as my participation in the #transmundanetuesdays by Carson Ellis on Instagram. It is like any other drawing activity or challenge but there are three prompts required. The three prompts for #transmundanetuesdays are here below:
- covered in thorns and spikes
- wearing leaves
- has a nice smile
I'm sure these will help you get excited to draw because the mix of prompts is simply stimulating.
Progress photos :
I don't have a specific idea yet as I grab my Derwent pencil except the three drawing prompts above. Initially scribbled random thorns and a face to match
Already hitting the brief this early. I'm glad I went for a skirt rather than a coat because I am not sure if I can create that leaf outfit but with the skirt it was a breeze. I saved time on that I must admit.
I'm holding my breath here, not good at drawing legs but I am happy I am done. This Tribal dancer is born. The bony tail is an afterthought 😉
I inked my drawing with an ordinary ball point pen in black
This process further defines the smallest details like a shadow or those little spikes. Could work with or without adding colors. I can stop here and be done
Putting in colors using these washable pens is very challenging. I can't get the right color. See how many shades I used here but they are too intense for the look I want. That's the limitation I guess so I had to correct the colors after taking the pictures, a filter would be a quick fix.
Hope you like it. Thank you for stopping by
Jad
