Aussie Ninja - Heat Run on Australian Ninja Warrior 2017

in dtube •  7 years ago  (edited)

This was my run on the first season of Australian Ninja Warrior... it was an incredible experience and I had so much fun. The actual run was at 1:30am and it looked like rain and electrical storms would shut the whole show down... but it happened and the audience was so incredibly supportive and excited - even after hours and hours of cheering and rain-dodging.

Even after my run, completely random but super amazing audience pulled me aside to let me know how well they thought I did.

I was a bit disappointed personally, I wanted to take on that Warped Wall (which I was secretly terrified of) and smash it.

This run got me into the semi-finals, which felt completely different.. this run was fun, that run was totally business.

Super run Adam.. you are a mini celebrity.

Haha, the channel that ran the show also did a little web interview thing with me... which I put up on Facebook... and then I was the miniest celebrity ever for a week. It was crazy how excited everyone was... and it was nice to show my efforts since for most people I've probably completely disappeared since I moved OS. Thanks though! It was so much fun. So much!

Nice run! The climbing will def help with the endurance for the hanging obstacles. Man that announcer needs some help though! 😅

Thank you!

Haha, the 3 Australian Ninja Warrior announcers were super cringe worthy. I actually did a spot on the Armchair Ninja Podcast just talking about how most Aussies had to watch the show with the sound turned off.

yesssss I love this video! You did so awesome :D I didn't realize you were running in the wee hours of the morning lol! Didn't you say your next run is in 8 weeks or something?

How good is your memory?!?! Yes, my next run is on the 10th of Feb in Phoenix Arizona... and I have a little local comp on the 4th of Feb. These ones will be at normal people time.

Hahaha, my run on the semis (which I don't have on video because it wasn't aired) was even later... and by that point the show had been getting serious noise complaints from the rich people that live on Sydney Harbour, so when I ran in the semis... people had to be silent and pretend to clap. It was so weird... and no one told us contestants that was the case... so I came on expecting so much cheering like the heats... and ..... crickets. It was so weird.

super awesome! Keep training hard :) I have no doubt you will do awesome! omg that is hilarious. reminds me of the time I wanted to be an extra in a tv show so I convinced Karen to come with me, and we were filming a "prom" episode. They asked us all to dance around in silence and it was awkward LOL.

Whaaaaaat? Really? I've never ever thought of that... how do they get people dancing in time with each other? (Or do they not care?)

I mean, it makes sense... how else would they get the actors lines... but still... how funny.

It spins me right round, baby right round like a record baby, right round, round, round! I have such high hopes for DTube, I truly hope it improves! I want to post straight to DTube but if people can't see what I post, what's the point! Grr Argh! Luckily I saw this on YouTube! So cool!

I've noticed time of the day seems to make a huge difference on both playing videos and loading videos. My lache one didn't work for the entire day, I tried multiple times... then I chucked it up in the evening and it was no problem at all.

I was going through the same issue though, I really want D.Tube to be better, because I want to use to expand on my posts... the little lache video just doesn't make sense on my YouTube channel.... I've also noticed that sometimes @dtube will upvote a dtube video... and it's upvote is worth like $50... so that's pretty motivating...

I can't get the video to work unfortunately :(

Oh Dtube....

Luckily I also put it on YouTube... let me know if this works for you:

Dude! That looks like a lot of fun!!!

Thanks man! It's was the most fun... zipping over water while the crowd cheers on.... life highlight for sure!

That's extremely impressive! You look like you almost had that. And yea... dtube can be frustrating sometimes lol

Arrrrgh, I know... just one more little hop and I would have been able to use my feet on the next pipe and save my hands... but it is what it is and it was fun.

I've been trying to load something to dtube all day... tried 3 different browers... no luck.. did it just before, no problem, straight through. I'm starting to recognize it's little quirks now.

Nice work dude! I've tested the Pipe one a couple of times, if you can get your hands together over the top of the pip and kip your body to move forward it feels a lot more secure (It's also fast!) Awesome work on making the semi's though dude!

Yes!!! I've actually done it a few times since... and the whole body kip is so much better. One day when Dtube works I'll upload a video of my Rockford competition where I completed a similar obstacle...

I've always wanted to try one of these courses. They look like a lot of fun. I'm going to keep my eye on this post, because I wanna check out the video. Hope you get the d.tube post working.

Is it typical for these events to go until 1:30AM? That seems crazy to me.

Good luck in your training, bruh!

Hmm, would this one work for you:

No, 1:30am is totally normal.. the American Ninja Warrior is an all nighter... it has to be late because they need it to be dark while filming... but not too cold... so they always film in Summer where it doesn't get dark until 8pm/9pm... and then have to get through 300 people...

It is super crazy fun... way better than any gym ever!

Good run! That looks like a pretty sweet time. I wonder if they're having a canadian tour anytime soon... Might be fun to spend a couple months training for one if I get wind of one coming to town.

I never thought of the night-time filming requirements. I guess it totally makes sense. Thanks for sharing!

How do you train for something like this? I've seen lots of videos of people setting up gyms in the backyards or at school and stuff. I would imagine that most of the obstacles aren't easy to train for...

Dude! I thought you were Aussie! Did I make that up or did you have a post or something from Australia? Sorry man, I totally build a whole different story for you in my head. Also, can I say Caitlyn's website is so goddamn impressive! Her photography is amazing.

I had a quick look and couldn't find anything for you. There is a Ninja Gym in Vancouver, but it looks pretty kid-centric. I wanted to visit last time I had to do my visa thing but ended up in Barbados instead.

No, you're right... it's hard to train without specific equipment, but it's not impossible. The Salmon Ladder for instance.. it's more technique than strength, but you can develop a similar technique but doing pull up claps. I've got a lot of posts in mind about specific training techniques, so I'll add to my list a post about training without equipment... thanks for the idea dude!

Haha I'll check out some of the training posts for sure.

I had an earlier post about how I just visited Sydney/New Castle/Briabane in August, so that's probably the source of confusion.

Thanks for the good vibes for Caitlyn's website, I'm trying to convince her to make an account. I think she has a lot of cool stuff to share.

Dude.... (need I say more)

Dude!

Oh @dtube... I thought I did everything so right... but alas...
