D.Tube Unknown Upload Error

in dtube •  7 years ago  (edited)

(Edit): Thanks to cristi advice I tried signing out and signing back in and this solved the issue.

Hey everyone I am attempting to upload a video to DTube but keep receiving an error labeled usefully as "unknown error"
I am not sure if this relates to the recent update or if I have happened upon an older error but please let me know if anyone has a solution for this as I have retried it at least five times now and am not sure what else to try and change.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Did not work for me after logging out and then in again. Same "unknown error"

same here

Yup - had to do with signing in. Just uploaded a new video on Dtube and it took the first time without any issues. Just make sure you sign in and can successfully upvote a video before proceeding. It did note however that my video was very slow to load, but maybe that has to do with my rank.

I think it has to do with the WAY we were logging in tjmac. I realized this when I was watching another video on Dtube and when I went to upvote it, I got the very same error as when I was trying to upload. Only this time, I was re-directed to the login page, where I could enter my private posting key or use SteemConnect, which I have always done in the past out of convenience. This time I signed in using the private posting key from Steemit and I was able to log in and upvote the video without any issues. However, I already posted my video somewhere else and won't have any more content to post for a few more days. Try and upvote a video on Dtube and see if you experience the same thing and log in with your PPK; then perhaps try to upload your video again.

You sir, are a legend!

Thank you for this advice. I had been struggling to upload to d.tube months and decided it wasn't worth the trouble. I wish I had seen your reply earlier.

Thanks to rgeddes excellent guide (located here: https://steemit.com/steemit-guides/@rgeddes/getting-your-posting-key---made-easy)

I was able to find my PPK, and login to d.tube without using SteemConnect. I am now able to upload without an errors! AWESOME!

I know this was 6 months ago but I'm about to make a video about this topic based on your comment right here. Thanks for the help!

THANK YOU SO MUCH - because of this thread I was able to post a Dtube video for the first time in forever. Dtube and Steemit need to run some updates that improves the ease of use and lessens the learning curve for new users if we are to survive here. I know 70% of staff was laid off, but that was to save this platform... now to really save it, we need a full revamp complete with sub-blog topic organization files on our blog pages and an easy account switch feature for starters.

I did it and it works, thanks a lot man! love u

Thanks for the advice, this was the solution I needed. just a heads up for others it still took some time but eventually worked.

I logged in using an incognito tab and it worked for me. I just copied all the hashes in the "Advanced" tab.

This worked for me. Upvote!

for some reason i can't log out of d-tube, how do i log out of dtube/ i can log out of steemit but not dtube

Thank you, it worked

This really helped. Thanks! Now I always do this before uploading my video cuz it REALLY sucks if I can't submit my video after I spend so much time on uploading!

wow, worked for me too, just now! sweet!

This didn't work either. I think maybe it's my reputation?

Same, been 4 weeks now, no support at all
I' m convinced they are prioritizing blockchain servers for high rep users

That's doubtful I would think

I think you're right. We're both lowly 25s and I can't upload anything, no matter how small I made the video file!

I am having the same problem.

Yes same here!! I was only able to upload a single video and then I can't upload anything anymore!!

same question.....

same

I have the SAME problem!

I figured it out and it worked! The language is the problem. At first I tried to name the video in Bulgarian (this is Cyrillic) - again and again. Then I named it in English and it worked perfectly!
Then I edited the video from the Red button and changed the name in Bulgarian again.
Here you can see the video: https://d.tube/v/kogitalnost.com/6xi8u52o

I keep my fingers crossed for you as well!

I'm having that problem but ALWAYS use English as my language

I've only had that problem when uploading today.. I thought it was because my cover photo was the wrong size.. I tried everything.. nothing worked..
Have you solved it yet?

Try to log out and back in, also try uploading the snap after the video. those were my two solutions, good luck

you are the king problem solved love you for posting i was really feeling bad its was so easy keep it up man

I still got the error message even though I have logged out and back in again.

Do not watch the technical support ..... guys, where are you?

Change of language and restart does not help me

Sorry, tried that one too - no dice

I am having this problem using 5 different browser.....after waiting months to get on because in November I waited ages for the auth email and SMS....by the time I clicked it, it was expired so I lost the name and also cant use on the same phone number or email....I am not asking for customer service but the complete lack of any ability to fix this ourselves....e.g. re-send code or forgot your password is gonna kill decentralized stuff. THat said, only Minds.com seem to have their shit together

Yes I am having the same problem. Does anyone know anything about this?

I hope that works - I'll try that because same here

I cave. I've tried every single suggestion on this forum and the ones it links as well. Just going to embed my YT videos on my posts instead. Kinda hard to get people to use something if it fails to function.

I'm using English to name my videos but still having problem.

It's an easy fix! I had the same problem. I wasn't typing my Tags properly. Make sure you use all lower case, and use the space bar, not a comma, in order to confirm tag.

TLDR: Too many video uploads within 5mins.

So I was running into this issue today. I started uploading videos and I had a bunch of videos I needed to upload. I don't know if my issue is exactly related to yours, but mine had to do with how many videos I was uploading in 5min intervals... and their error message needs to be altered to reflect that.

When I started getting the error message I looked at the JavaScript console to see if it was outputting some useful error messages because unknown error is a ridiculous message. All I could see was an HTTP 500 error and CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT. So I looked at the network traffic, yeap... there's the error:

{"error":"server_error","error_description":"( now - auth.last_root_post ) > STEEM_MIN_ROOT_COMMENT_INTERVAL: You may only post once every 5 minutes."}

The backend server(s) are sending proper error messages, and the frontend isn't catching those error messages and displaying it for the user to see. Really simple fix on their part, just don't know why they aren't doing it. Hope that helps!

DELETED

Now 2018/04/25 I tried multiple times a video (5 mins, 150MB) and it generates same error.
This replay is just for informing others

Thanks, that worked for me!

Yes, worked for me too. I think I had logged in with my private password before. Log out, get your private key and log back in again.

Same here, I can't upload my video since yesterday... It is very annoying

I'm going to give it a try!!

It worked 😝

I constantly have upload problems - which browser do people find the most reliable? I've been using Firefox and Chrome on my Macbook. Open to suggestions to improve reliability - nothing more frustrating than spending 10 minutes to wait for the video to upload, enter the title, summary, tags etc and to get the dumb error message :-(

I'm having endless problems with chrome on d-tube

Comma! Put comma on your tags! E.g. dtube, nice, tutorial

I resolved this issue by logging into DTube with my Private Posting Key, rather than using SteemConnect.
