Dtube Chat: Can A Chick Be A Meninist?

in dtube •  7 years ago  (edited)

Good morning Steem World!

So I have told you in the past about my very complicated political beliefs, and I wanted to talk to you about something in particular which is this idea of men's rights. This is a particularly prevalent and new concept here in the states in order to even things out with radical feminism. (And when I say radical, I mean RADICAL, like savage, rabid and crazy. The irony is that I am also somewhat of a feminist. I think there are instances where women really do get the shaft, but I don't like to live in a constant state of victimhood, and I believe that in trying to elevate women, men are being discriminated against here in some ways.) Now before you jump all over me and start screaming about the patriarchy, here me out, and then if you still disagree, let me know in the comments below! I love captivating conversation!

As always, thanks for watching!

xx~Beth

I miss the days when calling someone a "man" was a positive assessment of that persons character. Namely he was a man of honor and valor. Then came the days when the message was, "all men are dogs". First women seemed to buy it. Then eventually men came to believe this message about themselves and many of them embodied that standard.

Good observation.

Men have allowed this shit in the first place because they have become weak due to an easy and comfortable life in western society.

Add brainwashing to that and you get complete pussies that can't even kill a rat.

Regarding the Gal Gadot example, it’s not true that she “only” got paid $300,000, since her contract also included a share of box office returns, which she’ll obviously have cleaned up on with how well the film did. Here’s an article with more information: https://www.cnbc.com/2017/06/20/gal-gadots-300000-salary-has-nothing-to-do-with-gender-wage-gap.html

That being said, it does tend to be true that actresses in Hollywood don’t usually get paid as well as their male co-stars. BUT, it’s a little more complicated than just “women get paid less”. Actors’ salaries are always negotiated. There’s no real standard practice to it. As such, how much an actor or actress gets paid is subject to how well the negotiate their contract. For whatever reason, actresses tend to be less bold in their negotiations. Perhaps this is a result of a sexist mindset, and women feeling like they don’t have as much power as men, which can be traced back to the culture of patriarchy in Hollywood, America and/or the world in general... but it could also be that “perpetual victimhood” mentality that women can often have, and maybe it’s ultimately on the women in Hollywood to get over that, realize that they do have power if they simply learn to assert themselves in their negotiations and then they’ll likely see better results. Gal Gadot is going to see a MUCH bigger paycheque for Wonder Woman 2, because she negotiated a higher salary in light of the success of the first movie. That success obviously gave her the confidence to demand a higher salary, whereas on the first movie, she likely didn’t have that confidence.

Another recent example is the gap between Mark Whalberg’s pay for the reshoots of All The Money In The World, and Michelle Williams’ pat. Whalberg made many times more money. But again, the reason for this was not some studio head deciding “Ehhh... let’s pay the woman less.” It was because of how Whalberg and Williams had negotiated their contracts differently. Williams’ signed an initial contract for the movie that included reshoots. Whalberg did not, and instead made sure to renegoniate his contract when the reshoots were done. That allowed him to demand more money, whereas Williams was tied to her intial contract, which was signed before they knew that the reshoots would have be so extensive as to remove Kevin Spacey from the movie. Usually reshoots are pretty brief, so Williams’ agreed pay for any expected reshoots would have been agreed to under the assumption that there may be ony like a couple scenes reshot or picked up. Then the Spacey thing happens, they have to reshoot almost the whole movie... Whalberg isn’t tied to a pre-established contract, so he can negotiate his wage for this accordingly. Williams is still tied into her original contract, because she wasn’t wise enough to not pre-establish her reshooting wage without first knowing how extensive the reshoots might end up being.

Basically... the whole “wage gap” idea tends to always be more complicated than it’s made out to be. I mean, if it were actually true that women get descriminated against the way the radical feminists claim... then it would be illegal. There’s laws against that kind of descrimination. Yet we don’t see these radical feminists filing lawsuits over the wage gap. do we? That’s because they know they can’t, because it’s not actually true. I’m sure there are some examples where it is true, but it’s not the norm by any means.

Great video, BTW. I admire your bravery in speaking about these controversial topics, especially when presenting a rather unpopular opinion. Keep it up!

That's interesting about Gal Gadot, I didn't realize she was receiving additional compensation from box office sales. I agree that some level of things in Hollywood have to be up to women themselves, but used Hollywood as an example seeing as though they are usually the loudest voices when it comes to "unfairness" and "inequality"!

So, I really have nothing more to add. I think you hit about everything. As always, it is always a pleasure to watch your posts.

great video, nice to hear a voice of reason in this debate.

On the police test, there is a reason why female tests might be easier in some cases. Violent man are often responding far less aggressive towards a female officers than to a male one. For this reason the optimum is to have a male and a female officer working together. If there are not enough female candidates it could therefore make sense to encourage more women to join. For example via lowering the requirements or raising the pay.

I understand this, and actually knew about this. I absolutely think there should be more women in police. If I didn't, I wouldn't have gone for it! Haha. I do think that in most instances, females would be able to talk a person down, and not have to have it lead to a physical altercation, but for the times that do, women need to be as strong and equipped as humanly possible.

Men are discriminated but crying about it won't help.
For example marriage: Just don't get married and you won't experience divorce rape.

Aka lose what you own, your children, then your reputation, then your job, and then probably your life, and if you can't pay then well, have fun in jail.

An age of men is coming, this society has become so antihuman and degenerate that shit is just around the corner.

Strong masculine men will be needed again, but these men will not care at that point, we are the new barbarians and we will take what we want.

True freedom can only be private freedom and is in no way related to your gender. There is no such thing as the freedom of man, the freedom of a race etc... That is just tribalism.
If this age of men comes, where you will just take whatever you want I'll be waiting for you with my shotgun :)

That is why I don't come alone.

ahh, i can feel the spirit of true strong masculine men in you!

So if a guy can be effeminate then of course a girl can be meninist. What are we really talking about - we are talking about a balance in feminine and masculine energies. I recently had a Aura pic done and one of the things they noted was that my feminine and masculine energies were very balanced, but slightly more masculine than feminine.

I think it's kind of funny that there is a term meninist. I've never heard it before. but what I think it's funnier is that most of the things that you said that would be meninist type of positions on things are really just common sense. It's funny how we have to put a label on common-sense depending on gender. Crazy world. One day I would like to start a new political party called The Common Sense party, that basically just cuts through all the b*******.

I would vote for you as president of the common sense party.

@acousticsteveo 2020

I thought Menanism was a twitter account that just took feminist tweets and gender flipped them to show how horrible they were.
