Does ethnic diversity cause conflict? If there's no established national identity then of course there will be civil unrest... and national identity is diluted by an excessive amount of diversity.... which means that in this case, yes diversity causes conflict and is a bad thing. The solutions seem to be either civic nationalism or ethnic nationalism in Europe to solve these issues.
