I wanted to take a break from my New Year's Resolution fitness series to talk about something that I'm really proud of
The Doctors on CBS asked me to be on their show
A bit of a backstory first, I have been creating video content for the internet for roughly 8 years now and around my 6th year I helped my friend Obese to Beast create a channel and then we produced a viral video on his YouTube channel (8.9 million views) and we got contacted by Ellen (harder than it sounds). I'll post that video at another point but we traveled to Ellen and my friend was featured on the show and was gifted a new mustang GT! I'll be bringing him on SteemIt in due time, but I was so HAPPY for my friend to be featured for his fat-loss story - and that was that. I never expected ANY of us to get contacted by a network again...
I get an email from the Doctors...
After posting a few videos that went pretty viral I was having news websites like DailyMail (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3803461/Vegan-acne-cure-shared-bodybuilder.html) posting articles about how I'd cleared my severe acne and due to that the story was syndicated around the world. The news traveled to the producers of The Doctors on CBS and I was contacted to be on the show. Man....my hands were shaking when I got the news! I mean, it's childish but I've always wanted to be on TV for some reason or another.. That feeling evolved into me wanting to find ways to reach more people to help them with difficult things I'd been through like acne and low self esteem and the fact that CBS was going to give me this opportunity was...mindblowing.
SHOW DAY
We showed up and luckily for me I had already been to the Ellen show with my friend so I knew what to expect otherwise I would been nervous for the sure and nervous because I was unsure of how the operations went. I practiced my breathing did yoga and stretched while waiting in the room. They took me to make up and then backstage where I was able to hang out with Heidi & Chris Powell, who were set to be on the same episode. They really helped with some tips about being on TV and how to relax, I really thought that was cool of them. I have a vlog where I covered the behind the scenes of how it all worked that day but I'll post that another day.
3,2,1....walk on, walk on....LIGHTS, applause, three very primped and prepped doctors sitting there and the interview starts! Man, it was crazy how fast it went by but I hoped for the best. I controlled my breath as I've identified that as my biggest weakness with public speaking. I hold my breath at the top of the breath and eventually run out of oxygen even though my lungs are full of air. So I practiced having slightly slower speech to get more breaths in and out...We had to wait about 4 or 5 weeks until it aired but then it FINALLY aired! We had a little airing party at my house and we all freaked out!
From then, things have been really growing more and more in so many different directions. I am so fired up about life and my place in this world being able to use my platforms to really reach out and touch different people's lives. It really is the thing I want to do with my life forever :)
Thanks for coming in and hearing my story about this whirlwind day for me! I am still in shock just writing about it...man. Love you guys, thanks for the upvotes and follows!
