When we bought the property there was plenty of evidence of prior beaver activity but, other than a large dammed area at the back of the property, there was little mayhem being caused by the beavers. In the past couple of years though, the beavers have been building ever higher dams which are now threatening to limit our access to the back half of the property.
In the long term I need to find a solution so we can live in harmony. In the short term I have been taking down some of the dams a bit by hand to just keep the water at a reasonable level. I know it isn't a good solution but it's what I have time and money for right now.

We chatted a bit about this last year... I opened the dam and put in weeping tile.. it moves water, but gently and most important quietly.. stops the pond from getting larger..

Yeah, I remember. Did you have to almost completely drain the water to get it installed under the dam? Or would part way down be adequate?
I think that is my concern because the dam, especially the one at the back is huge and will require a lot of work to get down far. I am really struggling to get the house finished and I just don't know if I have time to take on another large project.

It was about 4’ deep and I got down to about 3’ because at the bottom of the dam it widens out pretty far... I put in 2 pieces about 20’ long 10’ on each side of the dam, and used thin metal rod to hold it down and in place...use the weeper with the sock, it’s a fabric that covers it... make sure the exit is under water so there is no sound of running water, took me a good half day to do it.... good luck ... Your place is looking awesome by the way, you guys are doing an excellent job!!
