This music piece is from Johan Sebastian Bach's cantata BWV 1 which is a church cantata he composed in 1725.
The first performance where this song was played was 25 march 1725 which happened to be on Palm Sunday that year.

Johan Sebastian Bach based this song on Philipp Nicolai's hymn "Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern which was composed in 1599.
