How to Use Fasting to Get Back on Track After a Vacation

in dtube •  6 years ago

Hi Friends!

I don’t know if you guys can relate to this, but I have a pretty predictable pattern when it comes to Vacations. I usually just let myself eat whatever I want, enjoy the local cuisine, and then swear all get healthy as soon as I get home.

The problem though, is that my stomach has gotten used to eating all of the pizza, grilled cheese, tacos, and whatever else I felt like eating on vacation, and I often find it takes me a few weeks to adjust back to eating healthy again.

This trip though, I decided to try something a little different to see if it would work better. Instead of just trying to jump cold turkey back into salads and other healthy items - I decided to do a 24 hour fast to help reset my system.

I couldn’t believe how well it worked! Getting back into my regular rhythm has never been easier.

In this video, I share The exact time window that I used for the fast, and what type of beverages I consume to help me move through it without breaking my fast.

I also couldn’t believe how many “Temptations” popped up during my fast, but I stayed strong and it was surprisingly easy.

Another thing that I try to do when coming back from vacation, is force myself to get back into my regular workout routine right away. It’s easy to get super busy with catching up from work and then let it be another week or two before working out, so I made sure to hit the gym this morning!

I hope you guys enjoy this video! You will have to let me know if you’ve ever used fasting as a way to reset after a gluttonous vacation, or if it is something that you would think about trying!

Looking forward to hearing from you guys and chatting in the comment section below!

XO, Lea

girl you are a gem in this life! always a spark of light. great posting , knockin it out the park. fantastic post. I tend to not eat much on vacation, all the travel and people seem to dim my appetite, at home its another story lol

aww thank you @soundlegion! ❤️❤️

That's so funny we are opposite on vacation eating! I just always feel the need to "try" everything when I'm visiting somewhere. Maybe that's FOMO Eating? hahah

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are doing well!

I really haven’t done it as a transition but seems like a good idea as my IF experience has been great to see results. I am planning another trip next month and my plan is to take a diet break and I will give it a try when I get back

That's so cool you have seen great results from IF! I have yet to give it a solid try because I love my morning coffee too much. 😅☕️

I like the idea of a 12-8 window, so maybe I can train myself to wait until noon for coffee. That's just kind of tricky when I get up at 5 am for work. Do you drink coffee, or how did you get over that hurdle? I know some people say that black coffee doesn't break your fast - but I've heard mixed things on that.

I drink about 2 cups of coffee before breaking the fast; black and Stevia to not break it. Also, plenty of water. I have also been trying @theycallmedan’s product called FASTED in between. So far, so good!

Someones got a hoarse voice right there...

You are so observant! #OG

I lost my voice a bit in Austin and am finally just getting it back! I think the mix of talking to people so much during the day and then having to practically yell over loud music at night starts to catchup after a week. haha

Sounds like a great idea, I think I'll do that right after the easter weekend.
Btw happy easter weekend!

OH man I hear ya. I already need another fast after the Easter weekend. 😂

I hope you had a lovely Easter!

So right! Fasting is the perfect way to reset the body! 😎

Hey Lea ,... i like that you are using fasting to reset yourself ,.. it is a great life hack I personally fast everyday and i tell you it changed my life .
And for everybody who want to try it start with a bigger eating window and let your body get used to it ,.. you body will adapt and it will get easier . Thanks for sharing Lea and good luck to everybody who wants to get into fasting,... very recommended.

Thanks for the great comment! Cool to hear how much fasting has helped you. I want to get into intermittent fasting ... but struggle with the whole coffee thing. Funny that is my only hangup! Maybe I should just get used to black coffee and then it won't be a big deal. haha

I have never practiced fasting for any reason until today. I find it very difficult to do it and I think I would faint if I tried. However, I have always heard about fasting, and that it is very good for the organism. It would be worth trying, it's never too late to learn new things. Thanks for sharing.

Glad you enjoyed the post! Yeah fasting may not be a good idea for everyone - especially if you think you are going to faint! I always find the first 8 hours are the hardest to get through and then it's pretty easy after that.

For me, I have never really used fasting as a way to reset after a gluttonous vacation... those gluttons just gets burnt naturally as I fall back into my normal routine. I fast often as a spiritual exercise!

That's awesome!

Thanks!

Actually to me, I didn't think I have tried the aspect of that fasting on vacations. Probably i prefer to stay as normal. It seems like my body chemistry did not need any reset like that but you know each individual body is idifferent
