Yoga--handstand transition to crane

in dtube •  7 years ago

In this video I'm kicking up to handstand from downward dog, holding it long enough to stabilize and then transition down into crane (bakasana) pose. It took me about five years to learn how to do this and another year and a half to perfect it to this point. Some days I can't do it as well as I did today. I didn't even have to warm up first today!

Now hopefully the video shows up for you all this time. The last attempt I made didn't go so well as someone so kindly pointed out right after I posted it lol. (thank you @aborjin)

Ooooh. Life goals! :D I can't even kick up from down dog into headstand yet. ONE DAY!!!!!

I have no doubt that you'll get it if you work at it. Consistency and dedication are the keys....

I've watched my wife surpass me in a lot of areas of our practice bc she is at it almost every day. Just goes to show the power of consistency and it's just a matter of doing it most days regardless of how one feels or what's gong on. It's great to watch her learn things and get poses and transitions for the first time.

I'm still learning but at a slower pace because I prioritize things a little differently now than I did a few years ago. Yoga is still an important part of my life but I'm at more like 3-4 days a week as opposed to 5-6.

Now if I could just get this self employment thing figured out...I could practice every day instead of going to the office lol.

Thanks for the reply Leta :)

Nice! Downdog to bakasana with control is a great transition.

Have you ever tried jumping into side crow from down dog? I've been working on that one lately and I have to shorten my stance a little to do it.

It kind of makes me nervous jumping onto my left arm as I dislocated that elbow snowboarding about a decade ago and it's a little less sturdy than my right.
