The way that steem is so often used as a stepping stone to get exposure for new projects planning to move to another platform is a little concerning to me. I'm not sure who is to blame either. Whether it's the projects themselves or steem for providing a sub-par service with too much money concentrated in too few hands.
It's not a problem unique to steem though. Most cryptos I've been following are being torn to shreds by their own community at the moment due to the negative sentiment toward crypto. Most of the techie guys I see talking about crypto don't have a single good thing to say about any of them. It seems like every project has glaring technical weaknesses and when people aren't whining about them they're accusing dev teams of price manipulation, shady hiring practises and collusion. I imagine if the price was moving in the other direction that would shut up the malcontents almost overnight

CooL video! You mentioned liking Steem as a platform, I was wondering if you ever looked into whaleshares? https://whaleshares.io/ It doesn't have a big of a user base as Steemit, so you might not find it as interesting, I like how it organizes blog posts and upvotes or shares.

How are the payouts?

With my limited skills at crypto currency accounting, I haven't attempted to transfer any of my WhaleStake (currency on WhaleShares) into any other currency, I've just been using it like Steem Power on Steemit.
At first it seemed really easy to earn whalestake, it's was like Steem on Steemit only with less users, but most of the upvotes seem to earn more units of value, mostly due to the smaller (and newer, more powerful) user base having more control with less competition.
(I'm not sure the value of WhaleStake relative to Steem)
My impression is that "IF" it catches on as big as Steemit, it would be like getting involved in the early days of Steemit. But in the area of payouts in monetary value, I'm not very good at evaluating such things.
I know there is a cross posting tool that I have used to post to both Steemit and WhaleShares at the same time, so in the same effort as just posting one blog, you can post both places.
Also I've easily turned Steemit pages I've created, including ones that are for DTube videos, into blogs on WhaleShares, and vice versa as a way to post to both potential audiences.
So far Steemit is the better option to build up a bigger audience, but that's mostly due to the larger user base on Steemit. On the other side, upvotes or "Shares" seem to have more impact on WhaleShares.
I like them both, but I do hold a slight preference to how WhaleShares organizes blogs and shares, with shares being a cross between a upvote and a resteem. But then again, I can see the value in sometimes having resteems and upvotes as separate functions on here Steemit.
...I'm probably rambling with little useful information, I just figured I'd mention WhaleShares, as it's considered to be a fork of Steemit, supposedly created to better handle some of the limits of Steemit with it's own separate blockchain.

I'll consider it, but posting there would take up even more time in my daily routines. Is there a dtube equiv there or would I just cross link?

For DTube, after I post to DTube I usually just go to the Steemit Article version of the DTube post then copy the hypertext that comes up when you click edit, then use it to post my DTube video to WhaleShares, and thus I've posted my DTube video to both Steemit and WhaleShares.
I've been behind in editing videos lately, the other day I decided to post one of my old cat videos from a few years ago to DTube, this is what the WhaleShares version looks like.
https://whaleshares.io/cat/@joey-fancy/tucker-cat-hugs-humans-01
Just like in the Steemit article it creates a link to the DTube video with the thumbnail. (And the link I included to YouTube also shows up as an embedded video just like on Steemit)
There is also a cross posting tool https://masdacs.io/ that allows to the creation of an article can can be instantly posted to both Steemit and WhaleShares, but lately I've been finding it hasn't been working as well with WhaleShares, but it used to work fine for both.
The cross posting tool also allows for posting to Golos and Medium, but I'm not familiar with either of those, however I've been meaning to look into them.
