Jagged crayons

original experimental video

Notes

I made this rather odd creation using video footage I took on my iPhone 5 during a rainstorm and edited it in iMovie. Added some percussion and synth with my keyboard. I called it Jagged crayons because I felt like a kid scribbling on a coloring page. It was the same feeling of rather aimless, but somehow still purposeful, playing around. I find it a quite hilarious creation. I used to make some amateur films when I was a little kid, stop motion and the like: but I have no video editing experience other than that, just wanted to do something fun and out of the ordinary to celebrate Saturday! The musical content is fully improvised in two passes (one for the synth, and then the drums to accompany it.) Tuning is A = 432 hz, and the key is C minor (ish.) The ambient sounds come from the original videos. I also mastered the audio with the LANDR service.** Remember, you're never too old to scribble on the walls with jagged crayons!** Watch the video on @dtube below at your own risk:

Fantastic, as per usual :)

Another light-hearted delight, more serious play :) Thanks, for sharing the fun, Daniel @d-pend. Here's an echo, somehow, from a poem of mine that came to mind as I was watching your video:

"Watch the sky darken, hang heavy and low
with the lowering of a world-weary eyelid,
the vegetation, now, a deep matte velvet.
Widen the eyes, raise the head and spirit,
the greenery is radiant with light.

In the mystery of moods lies the mastery of scenery
with a look one can color the landscape.
With a look the parched throat of a canal dampens
wild flowers clamor to arrange themselves."

It's good that you don't have any training. It makes it even better because it brings out your creativity. There aint no rules to bound you. Your mind is one of the most creative on steemit. It can be seen from you music also, poetries also and this video also !!! Great work :D

How you turned such a normal rainfall on your window to such a creative piece. I really admire you ❤️

nice art n vedio like your post 😊

Now that was fun watching that. You have a LOT going on! Well done! The most I've done with video editing is make a kid repeatedly fall into murky water over and over again lol.

hello sir, you share most interesting video. sound quality very good. thanks

Congratulations on your second Dtube and a real groovy one at that. I was waiting for this one. I should have taken some of your old dsound pieces and made a video for them myself. I will try one sometime this week. I had trouble in the past with Dtube taking forever to upload and play but it looks better now.

I know you are just playing around but it gets very psychedelic while still maintaining a pure innocence. Color and music come together to give a soothing feeling.

It looks like rain in North Carolina but what a beautiful place to be.

Thanks keeping us in a groovy mood.

I just followed you. Please follow back @d-pend thanks

Great quote about art. Also, art isn't a competition. I have mixed feelings about art contests and awards. There are no winners or losers.

Doing your thing your own way sometimes is really the best because its you its your insight and your creativity not what you are thought.......its so amazing

Thank you @d-pend for making such amazing and creative videos. keep it up!

excellent ;)

Excellent! The ULTIMATE fusion of your various talents. I have tweeted this one out (like I did your recent Dsound song) as part of my Steemit Twitter Promotion Campaign : https://twitter.com/TranscriptJunky/status/957535420513894400 The only issue is that the actual DTUbe video is NOT embedded in the tweet, and so until the Dtube developers (hopefully) enable this feature this only REINFORCES my suggestion that you lauch a YouTube channel to SHOWCASE BOTH your Dsound SONGS and Dtube music videos It's SIMPLE to do. With the gons you just add an image and convert the image + song into mp4 format. With the music videos you simply convert them into mp4 and upload to YouTube. Once these are on YouTube people (like me) can click the "share video" link, get the URL of the video, and embed the video right into the tweet, which allows tweet viewers to play the video right in their Twitter feed. PLEASE consider this, as I believe it will help the whole Steemit promotion effort...

Those lovely rainy droplets and very light music is giving me some romantic goosebumps. Some poets & writers do compare rain drops with their tears and rest say it beautiful for lovers, i love both aspects ;)

Thanks @d-pend i am really depended upon your thoughts nowadays :D

Stay Blessed and keep rocking the steemit community <3

even if you edit it with not serious, but the results are pretty good.

it's so cool @d-pend, I think it's not weird, that's what a work of art and talent in our soul is, because we do not imitate the works of others. Your videos are good, keep working to create something more unique again. thank you... :)

Tripping without being on anything. O.O

I wish I could express what a lot of your creations do to my state of being without sounding very weird to many people reading this, lmao. Needless to say, great work my man.

The video has been done for a couple minutes now and am still feeling it. Great stuff.

who else can see something unusual and creative in drops of rain?
who else can make a rainbow of it and fill it with a new sense?
sure, Daniel!)
i can't stop be amazed of your creative fountain in the head.
it seems to me you're riding a magic unicorn who gives you ideas!) (don;t be offended, it's only with kindness-)
but you're really the most creative person I have ever contacted with

Very cool. Are you using samples too?

Something unique that happens not by planning a steady, but it happens with the little things that are considered not significant.
With a great talent you cultivate something not worth be unique..
This is called talent..
