    Oh, it is not a publicity stunt by any means. He has quite a bit of support in Arizona. Not saying he's going to win, but if he takes the GOP nomination, his floor is somewhere is north of 40% of the voting electorate. If the Dems put up a weak candidate, watch out!

        I don't think he stands much of a chance. If Roy Moore couldn't win in Louisiana, I'm not sure another out-of-touch extreme racist will be able to win over enough people in Arizona, though there are certainly many who would love to try. Arpiao is also 85 years old, which makes me wonder why he doesn't just retire and live out the last few years of his life just glad we had a monster like Trump in the office and that he was spared from spending those years in a prison cell.

        Joe is Joe. He is a racist, evil man.

        Does he have a shot in Arizona? Unfortunately, yes. This is a pretty red sort of place with a closed Primary system. I'd say he's about 50-50 to make the General election. His main primary opposition is very much a tea party/Trump republican also.

        From my perspective it's the first time in years that we've had a real chance of putting up a Dem in Arizona. I think Joe would be my preferred Rep candidate for two reasons.

        1. You don't have to paint him anything. He'll take care of that himself.
        2. It will just galvanize the Hispanic population. I'd think Spanish speaking registration would go WAY up.

        There is my prognostication. It's worth just exactly what you paid for it.

          'DISCLOSURE' I'm not a real Democrat. I'm registered D so I can vote in the Primary.

          I think Krysten Sinema has a real good chance of winning the General Election. She's a powerful candidate. I think she'd have given Jeff Flake a real run.

          You can count on Joe. I'd like to see him win the Rep Primary. He'll run an identity politic campaign and I think the divide in AZ will surprise him.
