"...nip it in the bud" was ten years ago. Just bought another $100 worth.

No chance US bans bitcoin or any other crypto. Congress still hasn’t gotten its head wrapped around the topic enough to be pro or anti crypto. Read this:

US Congress Will Pass Blockchain Bills as Soon as Somebody Tells it What 'Blockchain' Means
https://markhelfman.com/2019/04/12/us-congress-will-pass-blockchain-bills-as-soon-as-somebody-tells-it-what-blockchain-means/

And note, SEC said it wants to support crypto and blockchain (laws not Federal regulators make it hard), and CFTC has approved bitcoin futures (though not the type Bakkt wants to provide, because the laws don’t allow, not because regulators are necessarily against it).

When I worked on Capitol Hill, Brad Sherman was not exactly known as a superstar legislator. Quite the opposite. I wouldn’t worry about anything he says having any impact on US government actions.

congresman Sherman is paid by credit card lobby group (because crypto are off course their immediate treat) and financial services industry. He is just an politician paid by lobbygroups.
