#gramophoned

Had a look in my shed and while I was in there I came across a huge pile of gramophone 78rpm records and thought to myself 'what should I do with them?'. Then, this idea came up 'I'm going to record them all and post them up on a decentralised network, where they will be preserved forever for other generations to discover and enjoy!'.
These are not sorted in any way so, they will be done in the order they come in, I hope you enjoy this historical musical journey as much as I am sure I will.

This is the same song that was released 10 years later (1965) by the righteous brothers.

Any comments or knowledge of any of the artists/songs etc. are most welcome.

Thank you for your time.

This is a recording of 'Al Hibbler' performing 'Unchained Melody' on this gramophone record I have, played on an electric turntable, converted to mp3 with noise reduction & normalisation.

Albert George "Al" Hibbler (August 16, 1915 – April 24, 2001) was an American baritone vocalist, who sang with Duke Ellington's orchestra before having several pop hits as a solo artist. Some of Hibbler's singing is classified as rhythm and blues, but he is best seen as a bridge between R&B and traditional pop music. According to one authority, "Hibbler cannot be regarded as a jazz singer but as an exceptionally good interpreter of twentieth-century popular songs who happened to work with some of the best jazz musicians of the time.
